Flumist and nursing moms?

Does anyone know if the flumist is safe for nursing moms? I know it is not suggested for pregnant women, so it made me wonder....

Re: Flumist and nursing moms?

  • I don't think it's recommended.

"It is not known whether FluMist passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. For at least 21 days after receiving FluMist, avoid close contact with anyone who has a weak immune system. A person with a weak immune system can become ill if they have close contact with you after you have recently received a an influenza vaccine."

  • I've gotten it while nursing both kids.  Our pediatrician is okay with it and the protection is more complete and lasts longer with the mist so its what we all get.
