Work of Art

I was watching Work of Art this morning getting ready for work, and I was befuddled that people would subject themselves to having their art critiqued like that, and be told that it isn't good enough.

Project Runway and Hells Kitchen, I guess, is kind of the same thing. Who is anyone else to tell them that its not good? Especially with the art ... isn't it supposed to be free interpretation and all that? If that's the case, then how can they ever determine who's the next great artist? I may not like something that they did, but that's my opinion. I know these judges are experts and all ... but they're still going based on their own judgements.

Thoughts? Am I just reading too much in to it?

Re: Work of Art

  • I watch Work of Art and Project Runway, I think a lot of the judging is done on how they fulfilled the parameters of the challenge issued, especially on Work of Art since the artists have so many viewpoints and backgrounds.  On Project Runway they can comment more on what is in fashion now, they have a standard to compare to.
