Donations to Vietnam Vets
I have 9 boxes of clothes and random stuff sitting in my living room waiting to be loaded up and taken to good will. Today I got a flyer in the mail from Vietnam Vets of America. It says tax deductible....do they leave a paper at the door when they pick up your donation to be used for tax deduction? I have written down everything that we are donating to use as a deduction.
I have never used them before but I would much rather move the boxes to the curb on my assigned day and they pick up!
Thanks
Re: Donations to Vietnam Vets
They would drop off a yellow bag. I would live it by the curb and they would pick it up. They would then hang something on the door saying you donated but it did not list/itemize. I was responsible for doing it.
This only makes sense if you itemize for income tax purposes not if you take the standard deduction.
This exactly. Smiles is right on.
We've done this lots of times. The convenience is awesome - they come pick up your donations right off the curb!
