Appraisal Rant...
DH and I found an amazing house in August, in a cute little town just about 15 minutes from where we live now. Everything went smoothly, we were able to negotiate the price down about $7,000, the inspection went well with no major problems found, and we heard from both our LO and RA that the appraisal went well.
Then last Friday....
The LO called DH to inform him that there was a mistake & the appraisal actually was $8,000 less than what the appraiser told the LO and DH! Both the seller's RA & our RA found some better comps in the area to show the appraiser. He agreed with these comps but the appraisal department at the bank dismissed this & kept the amount as is (just found out today). Our RA called to negotiate with the seller's RA. Their RA didn't want to hear anything & still thinks that the appraisal was too low so now wants to try to talk to the LO and bank again!
It's just so frustrating that we're just waiting...and I'm getting so mad! Our estimated closing date was the 12th of October...so NOT happening now! With Columbus Day Monday, I know we're not going to hear anything about the bank until Tuesday at the earliest. This is so unsettling...I just hate not knowing!!!
