Bored and watching local TV

There is a Hindu holiday this week and everyone we know seems to be out of town, and all the places we normally go are either closed or just dead so this weekend we are putzing around the house.  I turned on local tv for the first time in a while and just spent 15 minutes watching a game show of sorts where it appears that the winner gets a goat, or a heard of goats.  It's hard to tell, but they keep flashing a picture of the goats on the TV, and every one keeps getting super excited about it.   If this is this prize, apparently it could be considered a good one, as there is another Ramadan coming up and somehow that is involved.

Anyway..what is the most different or random thing you see on your "local" tv?

Re: Bored and watching local TV

  • Oh man. Haven't seen goats yet, but I have seen a show of two men dancing in some village for money. One of the men was a midget and the other one kept pushing him out of the way to try and make more money. And anyone who gave them money would have to dance the money to the bucket. It as kind of hypnotic music and so strange that I kept watching, but I had to stop when they kept fighting over the money. It was depressing.

  • Ha ha!

When we were in Vietnam, once in awhile I would watch a Korean game show. I'm not too sure what was going on, a bit of a dating/quiz show with a regular panel of girls. Some of the girls were Korean, but the majority were expats from various countries who were fluent in Korean. I was really impressed by their language skills.

Any of our Korea girls know this show?

  • We get mostly American tv shows here and of course the few Aussie shows that are on are in English.  The Aussie shows I do like are reality shows, Boarder Security and RBT.

Boarder Security follows the customs agents at the airport and shows the passengers going through customs, its crazy what some people try and bring through. It also shows how they check the mail and boarder patrols (on boats).

RBT is Random Breath Test which follows the police on the road when they are breath testing people.  Sometimes its a big set up with lots of police and other times its just a random police on the road who pull single cars over.  They certainly find some winners!
