Pinterest question

I almost never pin anyone else's pins. If I do, it's because they pinned me first (no, not tit-for-tat; just because, depending on what they repin, I like to see who is repinning me) and might see something I also like.
So, my question is, how does someone find your pin in the first place? I ask because I have one pin that has over 200 repins and like a dozen or so "likes"! How does this happen?

They search for something- for example, "quilt pattern" turns up a bunch of results and then sometimes I repin things that I find there. I don't really like pins unless they're something I like/ have done/ belong to someone I follow.
My most popular pin is a tutorial for a quilted pot holder.

I wondered that too and sometimes it seems that it is repinned within minutes of me pinning stuff.
Pinterest is going to be the death of me but I have found so many cute things that I am hoping to try for christmas.
When something I have pinned is "repinned," I will occassionally look at the boards of the people who repinned my pin (wow, I just used the word "pin" too much in that sentence).
Anyhow, sometimes I find that I have a similar style to some of their boards so I start following them. Occassionally, if I do a pinterest search for something, if I find something I like, I'll check out the boards to see if they are something I would like to follow

Exactly! I don't follow anybody but I do have followers (mostly people I know or know of) so this just baffles my mind! I thought this would just be a semi-private place to "bookmark" my favorite things, not become a celebrity!

I will often look at the board of people who like or repin my pins or follow my boards. This is especially true with my board dedicated to Silhouette crafts since that person likely has a Silhouette board also.
