I was in a wedding yesterday. It was beautiful.
While sitting at the head table during the reception three of the the other bridesmaids were constantly on their smartphones looking at facebook, texting, etc... I found it incredibly rude and annoying. Maybe it's just me, but it just didn't seem like proper behavior at a formal wedding. Is it that hard to put your phones down for a couple hours?!
Am I totally wrong in being annoyed by this? Maybe I'm just behind the times.

Re: Rant
Heh...Nope! Well, not in my opinion anyway.
I was at the Sugarland concert with my mom the other night (that's right, I'm judging concert behavior) and the four people in front of us spent the entire time on their phones...taking pictures of themselves, checking out the Cardinals game (moderately justified) and posting on Facebook. Hello? You paid a lot of money to be here. Why on Earth would you spend the time d!cking around on your phone?
I think it would be even worse at a wedding. Especially at the head table, or being a bridesmaid....Geez louise, why do the people of our generation struggle more and more to just be present in their own lives?
This is exactly why I'm holding out as long as possible to get a smart phone. I don't want to turn into that person.

This. If I'm somewhere Important I try not to bring my phone b/c if its with me- I'm going to be on it. I just don't have the attention span to sit/and or do one thing at a time and when I get figety or bored, I reach for it. If its not there, I usually get up and walk around. I had this issue this weekend at a competition I was at.
Before cell phones I always had some kind of electronic gadget to keep me occupied- my smart phone just increases my options.
Well said.
