Kitchen remodel - advice? Where to get stuff? Contractors?

We're going to remodel our kitchen and I'm looking for some advice and tips on where to get materials. We're trying to do it for under $20K.

Any contractor recommendations? We're in MoCo.  Also, any tips on where to get materials for a good price?  I'm willing to order online as long as I can get a sample before ordering.  We need:

Cabinets - have quotes from IKEA, Lowes and Cabinets to Go. Any other places we should check out?

Countertops - probably Silestone, Caesarstone or something similar

Flooring - likely ceramic/porcelin

Any other ideas on where to get other things like lighting, knobs/pulls, etc. is appreciated as well!

Thanks.

Re: Kitchen remodel - advice? Where to get stuff? Contractors?

  • My friend used Cabinets to Go, and I love her kitchen.

Make sure you post pics when you're done!

  • We did a DIY kitchen remodel, so I don't have recommendations.

Cabinets - have quotes from IKEA, Lowes and Cabinets to Go. Any other places we should check out? We used either HD or Lowe's for cabinets.

Countertops - probably Silestone, Caesarstone or something similar We have laminate (gasp!) from Barron's in our kitchen, but ordered Silestone from an online vendor. I will get you the rec - the first order came in cracked and we had zero trouble getting it replaced.

Flooring - likely ceramic/porcelin - Tile Shop on Rockville Pike is worth considering.

Any other ideas on where to get other things like lighting, knobs/pulls, etc. is appreciated as well! I like the Great Indoors lighting selection but price-check online since in non-sale times they can be found for less. They also have a truckload of knobs/pulls.
