PB anywhere chairs

I think this is what we are going to get DS for Christmas.  For those of you that have these for your kiddos, or something similar - do they get used? Do they hold up well? Any alternatives that are better than PB, like Land of Nod or somewhere else? Do they ever go on sale?

I want to get it personalized with DS' name, but DH doesn't want to b/c he wants future kid(s) to be able to use it - what do you think? (I think I'll get it personalized Stick out tongue)

Re: PB anywhere chairs

  • There are "secret" sales on these sometimes...meaning the sale price won't be posted online, but if you call them and tell them the item number, they will tell you if there is a discount on that item. It's usually random ones, so if you are looking to get a good deal, then you may have to settle for one color over the other. I remember when I almost bought one, the denim one was on sale when I called, and it was going to be like $86 (or something like that?) personalized with shipping. The sales guy on the phone had me just keep giving him item numbers of the ones I liked until we found one that was on sale. It's really weird, but that's how it works I guess. :)

  • DD loves hers, uses it every day and it has held up well. If it were me, I wouldn't get it personalized so a future kid can use it, but not a huge deal either way. We even chose a semi-gender neutral color (brown with white dots) in case we have a little boy later.

  • I can't find them online, but Hancock has chairs that are very similar.  They have a number of different fabrics you can order from, and I think you can get them embroidered with a name.  They are $99, but you can get a 40% off coupon if you sign up for their ads.  If we were to ever get one of those types of chairs, I think this is the route we would go.  They have one or two in store for you to actually look at.

  • We have the Land of Nod chair bc we already had a gift card there. We do have her name on it (which I think is fun), and it sits in our living room so B can look out of the bay window and sit and read books. So yes, it is used multiPle times a day!

  • C loves his anywhere chair. We have the green and white gingham one and we chose not to have his name put on it --- for the same reason that your DH doesn't want to. It holds up really, really well and I love that it has a really wide base so it doesn't tip over easily. I've taken the cover off and washed it multiple times and it still looks brand new. You can often find the insert and/or covers brand new on ebay but we did buy ours at the store because I felt like we had a coupon or something. I can't really remember :)

  • I bought ours all off eBay so I ended up with one that said "Mine" instead of C's name. I have washed it so many times that the threads on the "mine" are starting to pull out. The last time they had one of their secret sales, I got the the demin cover with C's name on it. It is stuffed in a box for Christmas. He still uses it all the time and so does my H.

  • We also bought Elsie's Pottery Barn anywhere chair inserts and cover off of e-bay.  The cover is green and had a name on it, I pulled the name off with my de-threaded tool thingy.  Elsie loves it and sits in it to watch tv, read books, makes tents out of, etc.  I am hoping she's outgrown it by the time Ian wants to sit in it, but have a feeling I will be buying another one in the near future.
