Since we seem to be overloaded with baby posts lately (which I love, don't get me wrong), I thought we should discuss something completely unrelated.
So...what's your favorite fall beer?
I am partial to Jack's Pumpkin Ale.
Go.
Re: Favorite fall beer?
Mine is Southern Tier Pumking. It's also time to start drinking the porters and imperials... yuummm.
Someone that I know and trust told me that the ShockTop Pumpkin is good. Anyone try it?
We just tried Great Lakes Octoberfest-probably one of the better ones I've tried recently.
Not really a fall beer but I have been loving Avery Karma which is a Belgian pale ale.
Dog Fish Punkin' Ale and Weyerbacher's Merry Monk.
Can't get on board drinking Shock Top. Only because its an Anheuser Busch product.
My little nuggets
Ooh, I like this one too.
These exactly! Southern Tiers is amazing. But not that cheap. I just tried Shock Tops this weekend, and was really surprised how good it was.
Just bought a case of Shock Top Pumpkin after having it at the pub at Wegman's haha...I like it!
I know, Caren... the hubs made such a face when I told him that a beer snobby friend told me it was good. I tried Blue Moon's pumpkin and that isn't all that good.
Yeah Blue Moon is not good. I will admit I haven't tried Shock Top but I saw this documentary once that talked about how they tried to sue Dog Fish over them naming it Punkin' Ale and it just turned me off to the big 3 breweries.
My little nuggets
I love Breckenridge Vanilla Porter.

Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin.
I tried Elysian's Night Owl Pumpkin Ale. Pretty good. I'm excited to try the 2nd bottle I have.
I'm a fan of Sly Fox's Oktoberfest, too.
I had some of Brooklyn's Post Road Pumpkin. I thought it was lame, uninteresting and bland. It has become my default beer for cooking, so I can at least use the beers. It is difficult to tell that it is a Brooklyn product, because there is very little mention of the brewery on the labeling.
I'm with Kernel re: Shocktop.
It is also time for me to get into my aging supply of Russian Imperials, Quads, and Tripels. I have a 2-3 year bottle of SF Ichor that has been chilling in the beer fridge for some time.
I'm partial to Dogfish Head Punkin Ale and Southern Tier Pumpking. Both popular choices.
I don't mind Shock Top in general, it's on a good special on Friday nights at a bar near me, so I partake often if I want a wheaty beer. Although I haven't tried their pumpkin variety.
i do like the dogfish pumpkin. i tried leinenkugles october recently and i didn't like it, but it tasted like it might be dirty taps so i am willing to try it again.
abita (new orleans) makes a fall fest that is pecan flavored and i really want to try it. i was super grumpy when our local creole place didn't have it yet on friday. boo to them and not having fall fest in october.
