UPDATE: My poor puppy! *a little long*

So, I took Augi in to the vet. They gave him a full exam and felt for pain, but didn't find anything wrong with him. They said to keep an eye on him and if it happens again, they might need to do a neurological workup on him. :(

He's acting fine now, if a little tired. He's passed out cold in my lap as I type. At least he's not acting afraid of me now! I hate that I couldn't just ask him what was wrong and find out and fix it. I admit I bawled a little...

This morning, when I was checking my email, I noticed Augi wasn't in his bed next to me, like he usually is. Then I realized the wires from my phone and laptop chargers were draped over it, so I moved them and told him to "get in your bed." He loves getting in his bed and always excitedly obeys. However this morning, he got really scared - cowered, ears back, etc. So I started to get up to see if he was okay, since it's totally out of his character, and he ran from me.

I slowly went after him, still trying to figure out what was wrong. I followed him around our whole apartment. Then he jumped up into my H's seat, which he knows he's not allowed to do. I didn't punish him, just moved him out of the seat, lightly saying no and cuddling him. Once he was back on the floor, he ran and got inside his cage in our bedroom. I called him and when he came, I picked him up, petting him and saying "good boy," etc. But every time I put him back down, he ran back into his cage.

I finally went and sat back down until he came out to see me. When he did, I got treats and worked with him to re-teach him "come" and "get in your bed" so he knew it was okay and that doing those things was good. He seemed to calm down during the training, but then when I stopped, he ran right back into his cage. When I finally coaxed him out again and picked him up, I realized he was burning up and shaking like mad. I called the vet.

They said it could be random odd behavior and since we adopted him from a shelter who took him in as a stray, anything could have triggered it, OR it could be something neurological and he should be checked out immediately either way. So now I'm waiting until 2 to take him in.

He's currently laying in my lap, not acting scared, but still shaking occasionally and burning up. Poor puppy!
