Happy Thanksgiving Weekend Canuck Nesties!

A long holiday weekend...and the weather is simply GORGEOUS where I am! It's like summer all over again!! The fall colours are beautiful, and my house smells like turkey/dressing, deer roast and later on this afternoon, fresh bannock, sweet potatoes, whipped potatoes, gravy, steamed veggies and ham too! Thankfully, my big brother supplied all of the meat so that it's not going to break our budget! lol

I am excited that DH and I are hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year - to give the 'moms' a break. I am happy that I chose to do it today because then we have the rest of the long weekend to enjoy! We are going to take a day trip up the highway (north on Lake Superior) tomorrow to enjoy the colours and let our boys run and swim in the great lake! I am really looking forward to it!

I am going away for training all next week, so Monday is going to be open to get myself set up for that - I still have to create an assignment for my senior class to work on while I am away.  The weather is incredible! I am so happy!!

Wishing all my favourite Nesties a fabulous weekend, regardless of whether it's a holiday for you or not!

Re: Happy Thanksgiving Weekend Canuck Nesties!

  • Happy Thanksgiving to you!

I celebrate American Thanksgiving (being American and all...haha)  but today would be a good day for stuffing or mashed potatoes for sure!  Chilly, in a nice way.

I've hosted the holiday twice before; how'd you do?? :-)

  • Dinner went well! Thanks! The food was great and my mom's pumpkin pies were DELICIOUS!!

We ended up watching our ceremony video with MIL and GrandMIL as they hadn't seen it yet.  It was fun! We had so much food leftover, so today I made a turkey/veggie soup and a shepard's pie with the leftover roast meat. The soup turned out so well! Everything is in the freezer now for some yummy dinners this winter!

Yesterday's trip was a great time - the weather was incredible! It was 26 C (about 78 F or so!) Couldn't believe it! Actually, the whole weekend was fantastic like that!

It's a long haul now until our next holiday...Christmas! So today was a relaxing day...now I have to gear up for the week!
