Mattress Questions

Sam and I are thinking abou buying a new mattress.

Do you have one you really reccomend (or don't!)?  I am interested in the Tepur-pedic.  It seems like everybody that has one loves it...but they just don't seem that comfy, but I've heard that they take some time to "break in" or get used to.

Any input?

Re: Mattress Questions

  • We bought a tempurpedic about a month ago and I'm still considering taking it back. For how much we paid, I feel like I should be sleeping through the night by now...

But, you're right, a lot of people have told us to wait (there is a 90 day return policy) because it gets softer and softer. I'm not much for waiting until the last minute, so I think I'll give it another month and then decide. I have only met one person who didn't like their tempurpedic and she weighs about 80 lbs so I just figure she didn't weigh enough to make the mattress indent any!!!

  • DH and I just bought a new mattress a few months ago. It was a struggle because we are total opposites...I love firm, he would sleep in a marshmellow if he could! LOL

We BOTH hated Temperpedics and Sleep Number beds. They were so uncomfortable!

We finally found a compromise that has left us both happy...a cushion firm by Sealy from JCPenney. A lot of companies make this type, and each store will carry a different model, even if the mattress is essentially the same.

It does get softer and "break in" more, but I would return it if you aren't happy by now. DH and I slept better from night 1, broken in or not. I LOVE ours though. :)

This is us. We bought a new mattress for Christmas last year (exciting, right?) it was the most misserable experiance ever as a married couple. Complete opposites.

All in all we had a very similar situation and result as Nicole.
