This is hopeless.

I've had this bottle of apple juice in my fridge for like 2 weeks. I really want to drink it but I cannot get the freaking cap off no matter how hard I try.

I am doomed to fantasize about this apple juice until my H can come home and open things for me again.

Re: This is hopeless.

  • Did you try running hot water over the cap?  That normally works for me.  Or maybe you could get one of those jar openers.  My mom got one when my dad left so she could open jars by herself.

  • This made me giggle, simply because DH is always coming to me to open stuff for him.

But I am sorry your apple juice is being evil and tempting you.

  • Ditto about the hot water.  The sugar probably hardened and basically glued the cap, so the hot water helps.  Also, sometimes smacking around the lid with a spoon or a knife will help too.

It drives me nuts when that happens, especially when H is gone.  After my wrist surgery I lost strength and only really notice it when I try to open tight lids and things.  I also may be known to have just cut a hole in the plastic because I'm so aggravated with it.

  • I would have already poked a hole in the top and poured it out of that haha!

  • That just happened to me with maple syrup. After trying for 3 days I finally thought to get out the big adjustable wrench from the garage, I clamped that on the lid and was finally able to get it open.

  • Use a butter knife, handle end on it's side, and tap the edges of the lid. Good luck!

  • OMG SUCCESS. I knew I hung around here for a reason.

Winning combination= Hot water + knife + beating

Apple juice never tasted so refreshing.

Somebody really wanted pancakes!!! That's determination at it's best!

Mary, I'm glad you got your apple juice open!! It sucks to want or need something and not be able to do it on your own. It's like the universe is being extra mean. My issues, when DH is gone, are typically computer related. It frustrates me when the Army deploys my IT guy.

  • Next time I'm just going to buy juice boxes lol.

  • Textured rubber gloves are my secret weapon against tough lids! My dad traveled for his job and was gone 5 days a week and that's what my mom always used. And it works!

  • I too have been known to poke a hole in the bottle.

Mary win/win for you.  You got to get apple juice and you also go to take it out on the bottle.  HAA

  • My friend N and I were just talking about this the other day! She had the same thing happen when C was a baby and S was deployed. She just waited on that one and went out and bought a different container. I'm glad you had success though!

    Yes

This post made me LOL but kind of in a pitiful "I understand your pain" kind of way lol. So glad you got your apple juice opened!

    Photo bomb, yeah!
  • This thread made me smile. In my house it isn't lids but moving furniture. Moving stuff is such a b!tch without someone else in the house. :-p

I'm fine with moving big stuff. It's the little things that confound me!
