weekly book post

Hey girls! I started reading Last Night at Chateau Marmont by Lauren Weisberger. I have read her other three books and hadn't gotten to this one yet.  It is good and I am enjoying it! What is everyone else reading this week?

Re: weekly book post

  • I am reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.  I am really enjoying it although I am 40% into it and not exactly sure what is going on.  But in a good way.  It is a good October book, a little creepy but not too much to turn me off.

  • I finished Love the One You're With by Emily Giffin last night. It was good - super easy and quick read. Not sure what I'm going to read next, gotta look at my Goodreads list.

  • I'm still reading The Help =) I'm not a super fast reader. It's really good so far.

  • I finished The Help this weekend. I loved it! I didn't love the ending, though. It left too many unanswered questions for me.

I tried to start The Book Thief. I've heard so many good things about it. However, I just can't get into it. I did read that it takes awhile to get into. I'll give it another shot some other time.

I am now reading Girl, Stolen. It's a young adult lit book. It's a very, very easy read, but it's good. I'm only about 4 chapters in, but so far it's about a vehicle that is stolen, but to the thief's surprise, there is a teenage girl laying down in the back seat. She is ill, and she was waiting in the car while her mom went into the pharmacy to get her medicine. She is also blind. The thief says he will let her go unharmed, but he needs to wait until the right time. He's afraid if he let's her go right away, that he'll be caught.

I think this will be a great book for my reluctant readers.

Oh, Girl, Stolen sounds good.  Have you read Stolen by Lucy Christopher?  It's another YA book and I love it!

As for The Book Thief, I was like you, it took me forever to get into it.  But I never loved it.  The ending was amazing and gut-wrenching, but the rest of the book really dragged for me.  But I recommend trying it again sometime just because of how it ends!

  • I just finished reading Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. It is one of my all-time favorites so it was really fun to reread it again after so many years.  I am also slowly making my way through IT by Stephen King for a book discussion taking place later this month over at the NBC.  So far, very good!

I have not read Stolen, but I will look into getting a copy! I'm always looking for new good titles to add to my classroom library.

As for The Book Thief, I think I'm struggling with the fact that death is the narrator of the story. It's just strange to me. Also, I get a creepy vibe from the foster dad. Like I said, I didn't get very far, so maybe that changes. Anyway, I do plan to give it another shot, but I'm going to wait awhile. It's still sitting on my desk as a reminder :)
