Switching to formula

How did you start switching over?  Did you offer 1-2 ounces at a time instead of a full bottle?  I still have a big stash left but to make it last longer our pedi recommended to do half BM, half formula.

Enfamil Gentlease is what our pedi recommended, anyone use this?

Re: Switching to formula

  • I have 2 more coupons and some sample of Enfamil you are welcome to.

We just started giving a bottle of formula (Similiac Sensitive) to Ian at 4 weeks, didn't transition or nothing.  It didn't seem to bother him at all.  We are doing 1-3 bottles of formula per day and the rest BM or nursing.  It seems to be working okay.

    That'd be great!

  • I would do the full on breast milk first so you make sure he gets that completely. So say do 6 oz bm and then 2 oz formula. After about a week take it to 4 and 4..

  • We used the blue Target brand (cheap!). Austin did fine on it. I started by giving 2oz, then 4oz, and then eventually gave him a whole bottle of formula for his evening bottle. Never had a problem.

Do you want to meet to get the formula or just send the checks?  PM or FB me and let me know.  Thanks!

  • S has been doing a bottle at night since 6 months and now takes 3 bottles of formula and only 2 bottles/breastfeeding.  Our doc recommended Similac because he said it was closest to breastmilk than the others.  S didn't have any issues with the adjustment and actually even going back and forth it doesn't phase him.  And actually now, he uses Target's brand of Similac.

    Try mixing it.
