Re: Clicky: Are Pemco's ads "A lot like you?"

  • I know I've heard a lot of people complain and/or say they don't relate to it, but I do know people that fit it and I think it's unique to the NW, so they aren't exactly wrong... lol.  I'm not really any of those personally (maybe the Seahawks fan) and it can get annoying to see commercials over and over (like anything), but you can't blame them for the 'profiles'!
  • Some of those are pretty funny......"the super long coffee orderer"..."green lake power walkers"....

    pretty interesting....

I think there are quite a bit of accurate northwest "personalities" in there...

  • i think they're funny, and they definitely match *some* people in seattle, but definitely not me, and not anybody i know personally.

  • Gluten free no refined sugar lady IS my mom.

The rest of the profiles are easily spotted around town, but not everyone here fits one of them.

  • I think they're funny and sorta true.  I am the super long coffee orderer...ask anyone.  But I don't make people wait, I'm fast.  And I don't like Tully's.  : )

  • SS - I agree with jennuinne - they're funny and sorta true. I think they are very well crafted comically exaggerated stereotypes that are easy to recognize strong resemblances to folks we've met.

  • It's sort of like Portlandia. The stereotyping sometimes feels a little over the top, but done the right way it's hilarious.

What's that? You're not watching Portlandia? What's wrong with you!

EDIT I don't get "Obvious Left Lane Occupant". But W and I are totally Blackberry Hunters. If there were one for people who harvested fruits from other people's trees, we'd be that too o_O.

1st year anniversary in Victoria with a killer whale topiary!
  • When I saw the "blue tarp camping" one I immediately called my dad and said "OMG!! That was us when we went camping." All huddled under the dripping blue tarp trying to have fun! He loves that commercial!

  • I think the stereotypes are true-ish for the most part, like niq said it's similar to the PNW stereotypes you see in Portlandia.

I think I'm a mix between three of the Profiles:

#12 Supercharged Seahawks Fan (I would substitute that for UW fan, and I don't get why they have a Zag profile, but not a UW/Dawg profile Angry)

    #23  Marymoor Off-Leash Dog Lady

#45 (A female version of ) 50 degrees Shirts Off Guy (I would substitute "shirts off" for "jacket off" or "switching to flip flops")

  • Lol, I love those ads.  I know in HS was the Sandals and Socks gal (mostly because I would want to wear sandals, but it was too cold in the morning, plus I ALWAYS had a wicked sock line from playing tennis).  Now I'm probably closer to the Super Long Coffee Orderer, but like Jennuine, I know what I want and I spit it out, although it drives me NUTS when the barista taking the order doesn't read it back because then I have a 50/50 chance of them effing it up (unless it's my usual Starbucks location).

This.  Exactly.  (Why I hate not going to "my" Starbucks).
