S/O Rain boots

If you don't wear rain boots do you just deal with your pant legs getting wet? Or are you not outside long enough for them to get wet?

Re: S/O Rain boots

  • I just deal with it I guess, BUT a couple things:

    - I'm probably not outside that much because I just walk to and from the bus.  My pants do get wet, but oh well.

    - I don't have to wear nice clothes so either I don't care if my jeans get wet

    - While I often wear cute flats to work, if I know it's going to be a really rainy day then I just wear tennis shoes, which gets my pants off the ground more and/or if they are wet I can't feel it

That said, I went to UW for undergrad and had to walk around in the rain all day and still never got rain boots, lol.  I don't know, I just never have wanted to wear them.

  • I don't wear rain boots, because I don't deal with too much mud when I go out.  If there was more mud where I lived, I probably would buy rain boots.  To and from work my shoes/pants don't get that soaked.  But if I'm out and about and the rain is totally insane and I get soaked, I put up with wet pants until I can change once I get home.

  • I honestly don't know if I've ever even OWNED rainboots.  I think if I commuted by bus and/or lived in Seattle and did a ton of walking, then I might, but since I pretty much drive everywhere my pants don't get too wet, or if they do, then I just changed out of them when I get home. • I've never had a need for them yet because we don't get much rain in SE Washington. But now I'm seeing a need for them and I want them sooo badly.

  • I haven't owned rain boots since I was a kid. I have found some really cute ones that make me want to buy a pair. Ex these, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Auth-CHANEL-09P-Blk-Camellia-Rain-Boots-Shoes-40-US9-/390344056227?pt=US_Women_s_Shoes&hash=item5ae2519da3 But even then I doubt I'd use them enough. I honestly don't care if my pants get a little wet.

  • It doesn't rain enough where I live to even think about investing in a pair of rain boots. If it did I would definitely buy a pair!

  • I don't think I've had any since I was itty-bitty. I just deal with my pants getting a little wet, although once rainy season starts, I switch to shoes with a thicker/higher sole so it's not as bad.

However, there are two pairs of ridiculously expensive DAV boots that I want. I'd be happy with either, but I'm not paying $80 for rainboots, even if they are AWFULLY cute. I've been wanting a pair of rainboots for the past year or so just because it's much nicer to go look at tide pools. Now that we have a yard, I can justify the need better...but still not quite $80 better.

These are my first choice: English Snow Leopard (at $85 plus shipping, yikes!)

  • I guess maybe I'm just being a baby. My jeans are all hemmed to wear with my heeled boots and they still get soaked. My dress pants with flats aren't as bad and actually dry out quite fast.

I do ride the bus and that leaves me to walk anywhere for lunch or errands.

  • I don't wear dress pants usually; the ones i do are hemmed such that they aren't a problem.  I also usually don't wear flats with them (but one pair i do and they are hemmed shorter).  Jeans and the like i just roll up so they don't get wet, then roll them back down when i get to my destination.  I know that's totally ugly, but it works.

Well, it usually works.  When i'm walking in the rain for any distance then the backs of my pants still get tiny splatters all over them.  Boots would help with that (though it's only really an issue for me when it's muddy splatters).
