Dr. Pepper 10: Not for women

Has anyone seen these commercials? What do you think about them?

Do you agree with this statement? Why or why not?

Jim Trebilcock, executive vice president of marketing for Dr Pepper, said that at the very least, he hopes that the new campaign will get people talking.

Trebilcock said:

?Women get the joke. ?Is this really for men or really for women?? is a way to start the conversation that can spread and get people engaged in the product.?

  • The only way to sell a useless unnecessary products is to reinforce stereo types and bias?

  • I think its one of the dumbest marketing campaigns I've ever heard of. Even my DH was puzzled-he was like "uh, I know tons of guys that drink diet stuff. You don't need to make it manly and decorate it with barbed wire." Big fail.

  • I am glad I am not crazy. I was annoyed by the commercial, but I thought it was due to the fact that I tend to be a humorless feminist.

Although I was hoping to spark a good debate about humorless feminists ;)

what about if there were giant pics of boobs on it or like those mud flap reclining women??  that would be manly, right??

  • I think it's totally unnecessary.  Every (wing-eating, beer-drinking, sports-watching, pants-wearing) guy I know drinks Coke Zero.  Something feels a little 1995 to me.
