motivation? What's that

I feel like such a slacker.  I have been so behind on everything for the past few months and the weeks that I have left at work are becoming smaller and smaller.

Is it bad I just want a nap?

Re: motivation? What's that

  • I was thinking of you this morning.

I remember feeling exactly the same way...and around the same time too.

  • I became a far worse employee once I was PG, and then even more so when J arrived.  It's the nature of priorities shifting... I see nothing wrong with that.

As for naps, we all know my theory on when one is PG and at work and just needs a quick snooze in order to function. But just learn from my lesson to not do it on your surprise shower day.

  • Aw, you have my sympathies, and support! Like Erika and Brianne, I remember experiencing the same lethargy around the 30 week mark, so go for it and rest as much as you can, you've certainly earned it!

  • I feel the same way right now!! I have a huge to do list at work that I'm trying to get done before I leave. I've started handing some things over to a co-worker, but now it's taking me time to train her, answer her questions, etc. I just want to be caught up and have my last few weeks at work be easy...not stressful like they have been. I'm exhausted now all the time too (well except at like 3AM when I should be sleeping...I'm always wide awake around that time. LOL)

Do you know when your last day is yet? Or are you playing it by ear? I'm going to try and get out 2 weeks before my due date if possible. I'm already getting uncomforable sitting at work all day (major back pain)...so not sure how I'll be by December!

  • nap? what's that?  I say go for it!  I'm scared to get pg during this first year in the new job because of this very reason. Yes, priorities do certainly change....

  • I am going to work until the baby comes- I'd rather spend time at home when the baby gets here ;)

Are you doing the whole 12 weeks?

I'm only able to afford to take 6-8weeks after the baby comes (my Short Term Disability will only pay me for 6-8 weeks after delivery). If I want more time it has to be unpaid..which we just don't have the money for unfortunately. I may be able to take a couple more weeks with my PTO..but not sure yet.

However, if I need to leave (for a medical reason) before the baby comes, I can take up to 4 weeks Short Term Disability for that. I don't want anything to go wrong of course, that would warrant me having to leave 4 weeks early before the baby comes....however I'm hoping I can at least get my DR to sign me out a couple weeks early if I'm uncomfortable.

  • I am actually taking 16 weeks, 12 off fill time and then transitioning back at 20 hours a week for three weeks and 30 hours a week for my final week before going back full time. I have been banking my vacation time since we started trying. I have enough time to cover the entire leave, which I am thankful for. I wish I could Also use my sick time, they allow only 6 weeks of sick and the rest has to be vacation. I will still have 40 hours of vacation time on the books when come back and 6 weeks of sick time left as well.

  • I am right there with you ladies! As much as being in 1st tri this time of year is perfect since we get the spring baby we wanted, it is also kicking my tush since it's the hardest time of the year for me (working FT plus my business). So I'm dying. Fortunately I started paying someone else to do some of my grunt work.

I have finally started getting a bit better and not taking every day naps. But bouncing back from being so damn lazy for so long is making it really hard to be motivated to overcome my massive to do list.

  • You've got a whole new person on board, I don't think it's bad at all to just want a nap ... or sneak one in Wink
  • Take the naps...one thing I am learning while being pregnant with a 16 month old...you don't get the naps like you did with the first. As far as being behind...Sawyer's Nursery is still filled with junk and we are still working on the office. Then trying to write long term subplans for now (you never know) until February is the worst! I am with you on the lack of motivation!

That's so awesome you can take that much time off!!! Unfortunately we can't carry our vacation/sick time over...at the very most I can do my 6 weeks and then possibly 2-3 weeks vacation (but that would mean I'd have to go the entire year of 2012 without any other vacation time....so I probably wouldn't use it all at once like that). I'm just appreciative that I can at least take 6 weeks off. I'm going to try and enjoy every second of it with baby Sebastian!!!
