WTMF Tuesday

The only reason today is bearable is because I have a 90 minute massage after work :)  Of course, my body feels mostly back to normal, but I am SO looking forward to it.  BLISS.

Still feeling pain in my toes, just waiting for my nails to fall off.  Might be the grossest and most inconvenient thing ever.  Ugh.

Watched "Hocus Pocus" last night, so it must be officially fall.  It was as enjoyable as ever.  Also roasted my first chicken, it came out OK, but not great.  Will keep trying, easiest meal ever.

That is about it.  Lots of work to do today, and a new blog post later (about the race, nothing new or exciting).

Happy (?!?) Tuesday!

Re: WTMF Tuesday

  • Shauni- Jealous of your 90min massage

2 years ago today greg proposed. So this morning I texted him asking if he knew what happend 2 years ago today. (Fully knowing he would have no idea) His response: "Columbus discovered America?" My response: "Really only 2 years ago?" Once I told him he got drunk that day he knew what I was talking about.

Greg always yells at me that i never watch anything in HD. I DVR some show last night and when I went to watch them in the bedroom (not an HDtv) I couldn't watch them because I recorded them in HD.. grrr.. So I yelled at him telling him this is why I don't watch things in HD.

Tonight the my preschool is having a scoop night at Carvel Ice Cream where the teachers go and scoop ice cream and the kids come and we the school gets money. So I think I will be supporting my job by having ice cream for dinner tonight:)

  • I love Hocus Pocus.

Ended up taking a half day yesterday to take Baby Q to the doctor.  She's sending us to an allergist Sad  Plus my boss's dad is quite sick and in the hospital so between the two of us we ended up cancelling our meeting yesterday afternoon.  Boo.

Fell asleep on the couch around 7 last night.  Baby has been waking up screaming and inconsolable for two nights now.  Takes a good 30 min to get him back down...and last night I ended up sleeping on the glider with him.

We've been invited to go to the Pumpkin Patch with the ILs on Sunday.  I have no good reason to decline other than I just don't want to go with them.

  • Both ice cream for dinner and a 90min massage sound delightful.  Hurry up, Tuesday!

I wasted 2 hours of my life that I will never get back watching Kim Kardashian's wedding last night.  Blech.  I wasn't impressed, and think she should pay retribution for wasting my time watching.

Other than that, nothing new.  I'm boring.

Poor little guy.  I hope he gets to feeling better soon.  What are they thinking he's allergic to?

  • I roast an utterly perfect chicken. I find the way to get it perfect is to not open the oven. Not kidding. And take it out before you think it's done and let it sit.

I am  PISSED OFF! I left my house at 7:15 this morning and just got to work at 9:20. What the MF! There was a train on fire on my regular line. First off, this is the third train that's been on fire on my line within the past year. That's not flipping normal. Get new trains you cheap freakingbastards. So I go to another line. MFD drops me off as my car is in the shop...I wait and wait, no announcements. Wait some more. After 25 minutes of waiting and freezing and 5 minutes after the train is supposed to actually be there, they announce that it's delayed 20 minutes. Then when I finally get on it, there's no power and it moves five MPH. Really? Frig this. I need a job five minutes from home. ENOUGH.

For my pains, I had a pumpkin donut for breakfast. I will work that off at the gym at lunch. SO THERE!

Last night I did nothing aside from emptying the dishwasher, packing my lunch and gym bag. I watched Vampire Diaries and two episodes of The Office. MFD got home and we watched Parks and Rec and American Dad. I fell out during Family Guy and never got up from the couch.

  • Xtine - I would kill a squirrel to have Carvel for dinner tonight. Enjoy!

SusieQ-poor baby! I hope things are sorted out soon. It is very sad when babies are inconsolable.

Rachel - I am super boring early in the week. I am an unmotivated slug and I don't kick ass at life like I do later in the week.

Sorry you are having such a rough start to your day.  Totally sucks balls.

Now, about the chicken...do you roast it covered or no?  I roasted mine in a roasting pan, with a rack, covered.

  • Don't cover it. I spray a roasting pan down with some smart balance spray, season my chicken with olive oil, salt & pepper, thyme, rosemary, whatever I have around, pop it in and then leave it.

  • Jealous of the massage. H has been randomly giving me back and foot rubs, but I'd love a REALY massage.

My left leg is killing me and is all sorts of colors. I got nailed with the ball FOUR times in the EXACT same spot. Two of those times I accidentally got in the way of our goalie (who has a VERY powerful kick), once was blocking a shot and the last time was blocking a penalty kick (which was my fault. some b!tch elbowed me, so I decided she needed to go DOWN).

Despite taking a 2 hour nap yesterday and getting a normal amount of sleep last night, I am STILL exhausted. And tonight bff and her bf are coming over for game night, so I'll continue to be exhausted.

On the plus side, tomorrow is my first OB appointment. I'm really looking forward to it. I think seeing a picture of the baby will make it seem like there's really something in there.

Xtine - happy proposal day!!  J proposed 2 years ago this weekend also - but I forgot about that.

Yesterday I had my 2nd intereview with the company I really want to work for post graduation.  I think it went well, but it's so hard to tell with these things.  I was in a group of about 48 people interviewing between 2 groups (Tax group and Audit group) and another 48 are interviewing this Thursday.  The groups are all college students (kind of funny I was sitting next to a 22 year old college senior and I have not only 8 years on her, but a law degree and an LLM in tax we are interviewing for the same group :-/ )

So about 2 hours after the interview the recruiter called me (most efficient company ever.) and asked if I would be willing to take some accounting classes since I don't have a ton of accounting experience.  I *think* that is a good sign I might get the job.  They wouldn't bother to ask me about taking more classes if they weren't interested right? They would just send me a "no thanks" letter if they didn't really want me there.  I don't know I just want a job.  More specifically, this job.

I hate job seeking, I wish to be a student forever. The end.

Poor little guy.  I hope he gets to feeling better soon.  What are they thinking he's allergic to?

Problem is I was going to suggest DH, Baby and I go do the same this weekend.  But BY OURSELVES.

No idea what he might be allergic to.  He's had a cough/snottiness for about a month now.  I chalked it up to starting daycare, but the ped thinks there might be more to it since it keeps hanging on.  She suggested an elimination diet in case it's anything I'm eating but he was fine the whole time I was off work so I doubt it's anything to do with me.

Boo on the trains, Steph.  Yay for ob appt, QoA.

  • Oh, btw, I've been meaning to ask this. Is my baby posting bothering anyone? Even though I was  the baby hater, no one else's posting ever bothered me so I never suggested this, but if anyone wants, us pregnerds can designate our baby posts like they do on some of the international boards.

I'm saying this in anticipation of posting a u/s pic tomorrow!

  • Today is unbearable as was yesterday. worked sucked balls yesterday, but glad I was able to drive home within 70 minutes from office to home and that included backroads for the last half. Today it's supposed to be sunny and warm and when I get into work it's drizzling (and my umbrella is not with me). there are also some of the "We Are the 99%" protestors about 2 blocks away, hopefully they keep it peaceful and don't mess with the train system as I want to get home today after leaving here.

SusieQ - I hope BabyQ feels better soon and you figure out what's causing his allergies.

Shauni - super jealous of the massage but I'm sure you'll feel like a million bucks after.

QOA - how exciting! referring to the first appointment not the fact that you got jabbed in soccer.

Also, Shauni, what made it not perfect? Too dry, not done? Explain please!

It was not as golden as I would have liked (I think because the top was on--I took it off for the last ten minutes and it got a little color, but I did not want to overcook it), and it was kind of bland until we poured the juice over it (the juices were delish!).  Also it was not as juicy as I would have liked although it was cooked pretty perfectly (not dry at all, just not as juicy and tender as I was hoping for).

I put it on a rack after seasoning it with S&P, tons of garlic, thyme, EVOO, a bit of butter and stuffing the inside with an onion and more garlic. I put it in beast up.  Lid on for an hour and twenty minutes (it was a 4 pound bird) and then took the lid off for 10 minutes.  The temp was 425 for the first 15 minutes and then down to 350. Then I let it rest for 10 minutes.  I wanted it to taste out of this world, and only the juice made it taste delicious.

  • Yesterday was Halloween Monday.  We went to Michaels, WalMart, Lowes, Home Depot, Salvation Army and Goodwill looking for supplies & costumes.  Grr...had luck getting supplies but no luck finding clothing for the zombie bride and groom that we want to dress up as.  Zombie prom king and queen may be a possibility.

  • wowza, I missed a lot!

    Here it goes!

Shauni- YAY for a massage!  I bet your body will be very grateful.  P.S.  I LOVED hocus pocus back in the day and thought that kid was such a cutie!

Xtine- Enjoy the ice cream dinner!!  We ran out of ice cream last week and i have yet to pick up more.  It's killing me, but i'm trying to be healthy.

susieQ- Sorry about the sick little guy!  Hope you guys can figure out the allergies.  And BOO to in-laws.

Sunshine- I'm so glad kim's wedding is over and done with.  maybe they will finally stop talking about it.  It's gotten more press than the royal wedding!!

Steph- Trains suck.  well, when they work, they're nice.  Otherwise, small confined space with strangers does not sound like a good morning!

QoA-  your baby posts don't bother me, but then again, i'm right there with ya.

Angie- Fingers crossed for the job!!

leolyns- having just dealt with protestors for what seemed like forever, and having them take over Madison, I can say that while I fully support standing up for what you believe in, it can put a damper on your day.

whew!  I'm exhausted now!  Day is ok so far.  Killer heartburn this morning AND J and i both have sore throats....still.  he has as interview this afternoon, so if nothing else, it will be practice for his other interview on thursday which is the job he really wants.

We have our 2nd birth/parenting class tonight, so that will be my exciting evening.  Other than that, happy Tuesday all!  If nothing else, we're one day closer to friday!!!!

keep checking salvation army.  I know time is winding down though.  About 7 years ago, when our group of friends were super tight still, we did a trampy version of wizard of oz.  We made all of our costumes though from things we found at salvation army.  we looked HOT!  :-)  Plus, it's always nice if you don't have to spend an arm and leg on costumes.

  • This is my go-to roast chicken recipe...it is always super yummy, but makes the kitchen smoky from roasting at a high temp the whole time.  I've taken to modifying it for two bone-in breasts, since H and I only like white meat anyway.

  • Shauni - a massage sounds heavenly, and you sure earned it!

Steph -  I would be sofaking pissed right now.  I realize how lucky I am to not have much of a commute, and try to be grateful for that every day.  Now, if only I didn't have a puppy who wanted in and out every 10 minutes when I work from home...

I would not have the lid on at all and depending on your oven cook it right to time or a little before. Sometimes I put some chicken broth mixed with water and wine on the bottom of the roaster as well. Warning, that makes the skin underneath very wet so if that grosses you out don't do it.

My skin is always crisp and my bird is always juicy. That's what she said.

  • I cannot believe that it's only Tuesday.  Yesterday was one of those annoying days where I swear my boss is avoiding me even though we're supposed to meet (THIS is why I tell him to schedule me for a specific time, but he refuses!).  When I finally caught him it started off good, with tons of compliments, but then he hit me with a ton of shiit to do before a meeting today.  I was so freaked out, and I should have seen something bad coming from the way he was sucking up.  I decided to take my computer home to finish up, but I forgot my mouse and charger and couldn't get anything done. Drank some wine instead, since there was nothing I could do, and then had trouble falling asleep because I was so worried about today.

Came in early this morning and it was a total stressfest - one of my programs wasn't working at all, and another is expired; when I tried to reinstall, I found out that my CD drive is apparently not working at all.  I was also having some bizarre save issues.  I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off and felt like crying/puking/screaming all morning, but the meeting went fine.  Except for my boss who is a passive-aggressive azzhole, and basically told me and a coworker one thing privately, and then announced the complete opposite at a meeting with our collaborators.  I was DUMBFOUNDED.  I realize that this is all pretty vague, but basically I was super excited not to have to work on a dead-end project anymore, and then he told everyone else that we're going to be focusing extra hard on the project, rather than abandoning it.  Even more frustrating is the fact that I already have a full plate and don't know where I'm supposed to find the time to work on this sucktastic piece of crap.

And now I really want a roast chicken.

I do mine breast up, but tent it with foil for the first half of cooking.  It stays moist, but then also gets nice and crispy.

  • Laura, sorry for the crappy day!  I really hate it when people tell you one thing privately, and an entirely different thing when everyone else is there.  Very frustrating.
