I have always only used the crock pot for pulled pork and pot roast, but I have been branching out lately. I made some bacon ranch chicken last week with some recipe I found online. It was only ok.
Anyway, this morning I woke up and put some chicken breasts in there with chicken broth and garlic and plan to I'd add some brown rice a few hours before dinner... But now I'm sitting here thinking that chicken in broth over brown rice is probably not going to be so thrilling and maybe I shouldn't make up my own recipes after all.
Does anyone have an good recipes?

There's that salsa chicken one that was floating around The Nest a while back. I have it saved on my computer at home, but you might find it if you do a Google search.
The AllRecipes site (and probably other recipes sites) has a crock pot section. I've been meaning to look up more slow-cooker recipes myself but haven't gotten around to it.

If you can get to the store, which I know is easier said than done. I would add a can of Cream of Chicken soup...I think they might even have one with garlic or herbs in it. I think that will add a layer of yumminess to what you have started.
I love using my Crock Pot and don't do it nearly enough. I also have quite a few cookbooks just for it, but haven't used any of the recipes. I'd be interested to see what other Nesties like to make

My favorite is something similar to what you did, minus the rice. Season chicken breasts (in my case with lemon pepper and dill), brown, and toss into the crock pot. Add water, lemon juice, and garlic and cook (3h on high, 6 h on low). It makes yet another pulled meat dish that you can use for a variety of things (over rice/noodles, as tacos, etc.)

I have an irrational fear of setting the house on fire with the dog inside alone, so I don't really use my crock pot. I wish I did more.
I'd be more worried about Doug eating all the contents while your gone than it burning down your house.
I would love to use a crock pot. Can you think of anything I can make in there that he might eat?
He is crated during the day due to an unfortunate situation with him trying to build a sleeping nest in the middle of DH's very expensive leather chair. And now with the showings, it is just for the best.
I've got an asian beef recipe going right now. I'll let you know tomorrow how it is!
My two crockpot recipes are pulled pork and the salsa chicken that Rock mentioned. It's pretty forgiving on ingredients, so I usually just go with what I have on hand. I use about 1.5-2lbs frozen chicken breasts, 1 large jar of salsa, 1 can of black beans, and 1 bag of frozen corn. I mix in about 1/4 cup of taco seasoning and cook on low for 8 hours, then shred the chicken and use it in tacos or quesadillas.
I've always wanted to try cooking a whole chicken in there, but never got up the nerve to try it.
The other day I made bacon ranch chicken. I just mixed cream of chicken soup with a packet of powder ranch dip, added some garlic and put it over chicken breasts and turkey bacon. It was pretty yummy, but not quite as ranch-y as I would have liked. DH said it was good, but not to add it to the rotation of meals we have regularly haha

Whenever I try something new....I ask DH what he thinks, and I get the usual "It's OK" or "It's good"....he claims he doesn't have taste buds. So then I ask....should I make it again? Which really gives me the answer I wanted
None of the regulars on the board will be surprised when I say this would be a total deal breaker for me!
And the outside of a baked potato? Like, he just likes to eat the skin?
If he's really that picky I don't think cooking in a crock pot vs. a pan/oven/etc. is going to make a difference, unfortunately.
And yes, the skin of the potato. He scoops out the inside, like a canoe & only eats the outside. I try to eat the part he scoops out, just because I hate to waste food. He's weird, I know.
I don't know if a crock pot will make any difference either, but I'm so sick of eating the same thing all.the.time.
Just so you know, you're not alone. My DH's sister in PA, who we stay with when we go down there. Her husband (and his brothers too, who are always around) only eat a few things, and mostly just grilled cheese. The wives are grilling cheese all night for their men. And the SIL never gets to eat real food herself, and their kids are growing up to be like Dad.
I definately couldn't handle this either, I enjoy food and cooking too much.

My little creation tonight was ok. DH loved it, probably because it was as bland as can be, and I thought it was decent.
My dinner last night was okay. I don't think it had enough liquid to cook in and it was pretty salty despite using low sodium broth. Next time I would add water, not more stock or sauce though. The vegetables, with the exception of the carrots, completely dissolved in the sauce, so I would add them later if I were to do this again. Tortilla Soup easiest thing ever made in the crock pot!
I buy a precooked rotisserie chicken from the grocery store and shred it up with my fingers, put in crock pot add 1 16 oz can crushed tomatos, 1 8 oz can tomatoes and diced chiles, 1 8oz can corn, 1 can salsa, 1 box of chicken broth and chile powder and franks red hot to taste, turn it on high for like 5-6 hours. Never cooked it on low cuz i dont have the patience! Its SO good, i serve with tortilla chips and cheese for toppings. Let me know how you like it!
Today i also made beef stew, pretty easy, got stew beef, potatoes, onion and pkg of baby carrots, tossed the beef in flour salt and pepper, 1 can tomato soup and 1 box beef broth, s&p to taste, have it on high for 6 hrs or so cuz i got started late!
