Bottle warmers?

Do you have one....if so, which brand?

If not, do you wish you did, or do you do just fine warming your bottles without one?

I just thought of getting one today...

TIA!

Re: Bottle warmers?

  • Didn't have one, and never found the need for getting one.

  • It depends on how picky the baby is about the temp of milk- one of the boys we babysit for won't even drink cold milk out of his sippie cup and he's 3.

They have an Avent bottle warmer and it is pretty easy to use.  They've used it for 3 yrs/ through 2 boys, so it is fairly durable.

    Thanks Mary!

Maybe I'll wait...I really don't need another gadget to store in my kitchen, but I thought it might be quick and convenient.

  • Every mom I know has told me to save the money, it's not worth it.

If baby wants warm milk, just heat up a small dish of water and then stick the bottle in there (in the water, not the microwave) for a minute and you're good to go.

  • No, never had one. Ellie isn't picky about the temperature of her milk.

  • I just warmed up water in the microwave and let the bottle sit in there for a few minutes.  Worked well and didn't need to waste the money.

  • We never had one. Nate prefers a cold bottle. Breast milk separates in the fridge so I would just run it under warm water for a few seconds then gently swirl it since you aren't supposed to shake it.

    Huh...I didn't know that either!

  • Yea supposedly it breaks down the vitamins so they don't line the stomach properly. Who knows how true it is though. Makes sense though.

  • Yea dont shake it. Shaking it breaks down the proteins.

I didnt have one to begin with...hell I didnt even buy bottles or a breastpump until a few weeks ago. I swore she's never have a bottle, a paci, etc. Bwaaahahahaha was I dumb. Anyway, Olive wont take a col or even cool bottle and the hot water in a glass wasnt fast enough. So I broke down and bought a Munchkin bottle warmer for $20 on Sunday.

  • I have to echo the girls who didn't find a warmer necessary. I also just set Kyler's bottles in a cup of warm water.  At first we tried to make sure his bottles were warmed to room temperature, but one day when he was screaming his head off because he was hungry, I just gave him a half-cold bottle and lo and behold, he took it without complaint.  Like Nate, he doesn't really care about the temp of his bottles.  He usually only has bottles at daycare though these days and I know they use a bottle warmer, but I'm 4 months into breastfeeding and haven't seen the need for one.

  • Thanks everyone! I think at this point I'll hold off and see how we do without one. I appreciate the input!

Well, Sam seems to have gotten through it fine, so I'm really not that worried.

Nah it doesn't make it bad or anything. It just has something to do with how the nutrients are absorbed to make it more like nursing.
