I have an old Kenmore machine that I acquired through Freecycle. The lady who have it to me was using it without any problems prior to upgrading it after many years of loyal work.
My friend was here this weekend & gave me a crash course. I cannot get the needle to pick up the bobbin thread consistently. When it does, it sews about an inch & then tangles up under the bobbin cover. I am fairly certain that I have everything threaded correctly.
I have googled & watched YouTube videos. I cannon figure out what in the world I am doing wrong! I am all ready to start practicing, but needless to say, I haven?t gotten too far the last few evenings & I?m starting to get frustrated.
Any suggestions?
Re: Sewing maching not picking up bobbin thread?
Are you holding both threads taught when starting to sew?

This. Also, make sure that the bobbin is wound correctly. If the thread is wrapped too loosely, it will not sew correctly.
