Would you go for this interview?
I have a conditional teaching certificate in Maryland because I have an exam to sit for to become fully certified. I got a temporary Math teaching job last school year. During summer break I was looking for teaching job but couldn't get one. All of them blame it on job cuts but I know my pregnancy has to do with it. Anyway I sub in my district. I 'm 8 months pregnant and I received a voice mail today from one of the schools in a nearby school district that I applied to during summer and I was told they were looking for fully certified Math teacher. The principal wants me to come for interview on Tuesday. The school is 1 hr away from my home. Would you go being 8 months pregnant ? I've been so sad about this since this afternoon because I know they must be desperately in need of Math teacher but will be so disappointed on Tuesday when they see a pregnant woman.
Re: Would you go for this interview?
If I were you, I'd call them and tell them that you're 8 mths pregnant. Normally, I wouldn't disclose that to potential employers if you're 4 mths preg or less. However, I think it'd be very unfair if you don't at least give them a heads up. You may be told that they don't want to interview you because of that, since you'd end up taking maternity leave quite soon and then they'd have to hire a long term sub. However, they may still want to see you if they're REALLY interested.
IMHO
You never know when something else will open up and you'll already be in the back of their mind as someone who would be a great fit for the organization, not just one particular position. Good luck!

I agree with this!
tritto. never turn down an interview and a chance to make connections.
hit it out of the park - let them know you really connected with them, love this school district, etc. and want them to keep you in mind for this and other positions.
This. Couldn't have said it better!
