Re: Baby name clicky poll

  • I know someone with this name and she says Emma-lynn, so that's what I checked though when I read "Emma-lynn" I think of a Southern two name name like Mary-Sue or something.  She doesn't say it like that, its all one word like Emmalynn.

If that makes sense.  I think it's beautiful - I suggested it to DH too since he loves Emily, as do I, but it's very popular here.

  • This is my cousin's middle name.  She pronounces it Emma-line.

I'm assuming its a regional difference.

See I wonder about that too, and I think the -leen pronunciation may be regional, but as for Lynn and Line, I guess people have the same confusion with Madeline.

  • At first glance I go with Emma-leen, after a good study I went with Emmy-line

  • I could see both choices a and c being how it would be pronounced - so I went with the first thing that seemed right which was A. Stick out tongue

  • I see it as either Emma-leen or Emma-line, since I know both.

For what it's worth, I love the name :)

  • My mind goes straight to -leen, but it's probably because my grandmother's name was Emelina.
