I have one of those teachers who don't give a_fuck. And of course the class is online. Well, I took my proctored midterm and got quite a few wrong. When I went to review the answers, I saw some that just had to be right. Well, I went home and looked at my test and then found the answers in my book, emailed the teacher the correct answers plus the page number you can find the answer on, and have stalked my grade on it for over a week.
It was ELEVEN questions wrong. That's a whole grade difference. He hasn't changed it in a week. I emailed him yesterday and expected an email back today (per his policy, and yesterday wasn't a holiday for us). No freaking email at 9 pm. Should I go to the department head? This isn't the first time I've found answers wrong nor changed grades because of it. Or should I give him some slack. His brother passed away the first week of school but I had someone in another class tell me this is just how this teacher is.
Re: I am seriously pissed.
Ok. I'm going to wait until morning so I can write an email without sounding like a pissybitch.
On a lighter note, I'm watching the first episode of the new dexter season!!!!
It's an excellent show IMO. Last I checked, seasons 1-4 were on Netflix instant. We zipped through them pretty fast when we didn't have cable.
I am currently getting my masters online and I find that professors are only checking their e-mail like once a week. I am not sure that I have ever called one before. I know that most of my professors will say they will be out of contact for conferences if they are.
Good luck. What are you getting your degree in? I am almost finished with my masters and could not be happier!
Finishing up a general AA then on to my BA. I'm at the "does it ever end?" point. I've been told once you get passed the halfway mark it just flies by.
Edit- I hit enter before posting anything.
I am so at that point. I have been at that point since last year. HA!! I am thinking that my classes are like rabbits and are having babies all of the time. HAAA
It will get better...once it is done and then YAY for you!
Absolutely speak with the department head. You don't have to mean or take an angry tone, just explain that situation and anything else that's bothering you about the class or professor in as much detail as you can (as well as any suggestions).
The only way(usually) that they can find out about those types of problems and correct them is from student feedback. Chances are really good that the department will appreciate any feedback that you can give them.
Per his intro in the class he said he would respond within one day of every email. And his classroom is an hour one way. I got a mass email back today saying he "doesn't quite know how the best way to go about fixing this". Ummm I gave you all the correct answers, you lazy_ass. And also "some students think their answer was right and it wasn't". Yes, I looked up the correct answers and gave you page numbers so you could double check them.
