to Dover AFB! we're currently at Travis AFB and just got orders yesterday! we leave in March and will live about 2 hours away from all of our family. I do have a question though, we currently live on base and would like to live on base at Dover. Do we have to wait until we pcs there to be put on the waiting list, or is there a way to be put on it sooner? Also, if any of you are there now, what are good apartments/rental areas to live in? Thanks!

    From experience, you need to be on your way to base to be able to be put on the list. Does your husband know anyone at Dover? Sometimes the FRO/FRG (we're Marine Corps) can help expedite the process if you get in touch with them. Good luck with the move!! Are you doing a DITY or having military movers do it?

    We're not at Dover, but we were able to complete the housing application and get on the waiting list as soon as we had orders.

    Depending on how long the wait list is, you should be able to be put on it once you have orders.  We are in the process of moving our command next year, and people are already getting on the wait list at the new base.

    Ditto, the pp's. In our experience as soon as the orders are cut you can call into the housing office and start the process with them.

    DH and I are PCSing to Travis AFB at the beginning of November. I don't have anything to help you out but if you could tell me anything it would definitely be appreciated :)
