Bangor Area Birthing Centers?

So, the time when I would need one is years away, but does anyone have any recommendations? My experience with EMMC is very high-intervention births, which is fine for those high-risk deliveries, but there must be a low-risk, low-intervention center somewhere up here, right?

LOL I wouldn't be too upset about all the views and lack of replies! We're a nosy group that always reads everyone's posts, but we don't have a ton of population up in the Bangor area who can answer. We've got pockets of folks in way southern ME, the Portland metro area, and the L/A area. There are plenty of other gals scattered around the state too, but maybe they just haven't seen the post yet (I normally can't post during work hours) or aren't in baby-making mode/went the standard hospital route to know how to answer!

I'll keep my fingers crossed someone will come up with an answer for you yet!

I live near Bangor, but am delivering at Maine General in Waterville. I didn't really select to have the baby there, but it's just where my DR delivers so that was that. Sorry I'm not more helpful.

I delivered at EMMC and loved it. My doctor was a resident at EMMC center for family medicine and they were very low involvement, the women didn't even want to break my water. When I was looking though I heard that there is a birthing center in the Bar Harbor area, but don't know much about it. My PCP suggested looking at it, she said the drive from Old Town wouldn't be too bad as long as I didn't have a fast labor. Good luck!

Bar Harbor you say? I'll have to look more into it, thanks for the lead. Like I said, we're not going to be in baby making mode for a year or so, but it looks like we're going to be in Old Town for the next 5 years or so. I've heard good things about EMMC too, but it would be nice to have an alternative that doesn't require giving birth in the lithotomy position with a mandatory constant fetal monitor, etc. I know everyone that delivers there has a different approach, but no one seems as progressive as the folks down South.
