Any vacuum recommendations....

Does anyone have any vacuum recommendations, I am looking for something for both wood floors and carpet, and good for pet hair... I would love a dyson but I can't spend 400+ on a vacuum.... TIA!!

  • I'm pretty sure we have this one:

We have 2 cats and 2 dogs and it picks up fur really well, off of anything. It does hardwood, we've only used it once or twice and it worked okay, DH just thinks sweeping gets it cleaner.

Absolutely.  We registered for it for our wedding shower so we didn't need to shell out the cash, but it's been worth every proverbial penny!

if you don't mind me asking which dyson do you have? Maybe i should just bit the bullet and buy one, I figured if I buy one then maybe I don't have to buy a new one for a years.

  • I love my Bissell Healthy Home.

    http://www.amazon.com/Bissell-Healthy-Home-Vacuum-16N53/dp/B00440EO7M

We've had it 2 years and it is outstanding.

It is one of the only vacuums that has a HEPA filer (Dysons used to in their allergy model that has since been discontinued), and you have the ability to change settings for everything from bare floor to plush carpet.

It also has a spinning brush that pulls up every ounce of hair in our house- pet or human.

ETA: It is $200 list price and you can use a BBB 20% off coupon on it, so it's only $160.

I was looking at this at Bed bath and beyond also... thanks!

I don't think they've changed models in the last 2-3 years, so I'm thinking it's the Dyson DC24 Animal Ball Bagless Upright Vacuum

  • I second the Dyson animal! When I bought mine in July, Target had them $99 off and included a pet accessory kit with purchase. The kit alone was another $100. I'm not sure if they are still running that special, but it's something to watch for.
  • I have the bissel pet hair eraser. We love it!

  • I have the Dyson DC24 Animal as well and love it.  Mine was also a gift, so I'm not sure if I would've shelled out the big bucks for it otherwise, but it works fantastically and sucks up so much dirt and pet hair.

  • I also rec the Dyson. I have a DC25 All Floors (the orange one). My dog doesn't shed, so I can't speak for that, but it works great on all the different floors in our house - carpet, laminate and tile
