My baby is due Sunday. I had my 39w appt today. As I was signing in, I heard the doctor talking on the phone saying he had just sent a patient to the hospital and that she was 4cm dilated. I was jealous, but was optimistic my OB would have good news for me, too.
It was clearly just wishful thinking.
I've been ordered to relax and take it easy until the baby gets here because my blood pressure keeps going up (was tested for pre-e after last week's appt). My dr will schedule my induction after the 23rd if the baby doesn't show up, though if my bp climbs any higher, it'll probably happen sooner.
"Relax and take it easy" is really difficult for me. I don't like to watch tv, I've read all of my books a dozen times, and I can only nap so much. I still have some serious carpal tunnel, so crafting is pretty much out.
If you made it through this, bravo. I feel like such a Debbie Downer today. I'm so excited to meet my baby and am ready for him to be here. I'm just feeling really discouraged.
Re: NCR: Frustrated (vent)
Oh noooo! Can you watch or rent favorite movies? What about a manicure? Coffee dates with friends and family?
I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I know 10 days seems super far off, but I promise, you can make it!
And hey, your doctor is generous- they made my coworker (who is a whopping 5' and weighed 96lbs before she got pg and gained 40+lbs) go 11 days after her due date. Yeah, and she worked the whole time until induction. :-/
Stand up for something you believe in.
I actually feel fine, which makes sitting on my butt even more difficult. I like to be up and doing something. I did go and get my hair cut today.
Just before he left the room, the dr said, "Do you work outside of the home? Because if you do, you're done for now." Stupid blood pressure.
My OB will only let me go to 41 weeks. I'm not thrilled about the prospect of being induced, but am totally willing to have it done due to my bp.
I was scheduled to be induced on Feb 23rd with DS at my 40wk appt (well, 40w2d) and I ended up going the next day at 40w3d.
I find that in my circle of friends, once you get an induction date that baby decides they're ready to come within a few days.
I hope little man comes to meet you soon!

Just remember that this is totally normal! Feeling frustrated, impatient, restless, etc. is all part of the program.
Do you watch movies? Would you like some book recommendations? Hm... what about friends/family? Do you have aunts/grandmas/friends nearby that you could visit with during the day? Not using hands severely restricts all the things I would normally do to keep occupied!
How are you feeling other than the blood pressure? Are you experiencing many contractions? I hope these days pass quickly for you!
I had such horrible joint pains in my hands and arms when I was near the end with my first- oh, I swear I can still remember it so well. It would wake me up (when I could sleep in between insomnia and heartburn- LOL). Those last weeks of pregnancy are rough- hang in there!
I feel fine. My blood pressure isn't making me feel ill or woozy or anything.
I've been watching a lot of random tv shows on my computer (we don't have television) and I have to say, there is a lot of garbage on tv these days.
Our nearest family members are 6 hours away (yaaaaay!), but they've started calling to find out if I'm still pregnant. I'm wondering if they think we're going to forget to tell them or keep it a secret.
