u.g.l.y. you aint got no alibi, you thursday (that makes no sense...)

Sorry for the lack of common sense this morning, song was stuck in my head.  Had to get it out there.

Pouring rain here today.  Doesn't bother me so much, but I just don't want the rain over the next 4 days to wash away our beautiful foliage!

So, tried to go for a light (2 mile) run last night...what a joke!  Other than some pain still with my toenails I felt totally fine, so I thought, well, why not go for a little run?  I went outside, stretched and tried to jog...and this is the mental image I will give to you:

picture a rusty robot who has not "walked" in over 1000 years.  Or a baby cold walking for the first time.  I was SO stiff!  My hips and knees didn't want to cooperate.  It didn't hurt per say, just so stiff, like my joints and muscles were on strike.  I slowed down to a power walk and laughed out loud at myself, but after a minute of power walking decided to try again.  And again, just as awkward and stiff.  But I pushed through it, figuring I just needed to loosen up my muscles.  I ran...at a 12-14 minute pace (I could have power walked faster, but I wanted my muscles to get used to running again)!  It took me 30 minutes to do 2 miles!  I was so stiff and sore when I got home, but I am glad I "ran."  LOTS of stretching last night, and will do more tonight.

As for the pain under my toes...I asked the H&F girls what their experiences were...almost all of them said "cut your toenails down as low as you can and you can then use a needle to POP THE BLISTER UNDER YOUR NAIL.

OH HELL NO.  First, I didn't even think I had blisters under my toenails, so I did some investigating...I SURE DO.  FVCKING GROSS.  SO NASTY.  I want to die!  And second, the thought of popping them with a needle?  I would rather have a one night stand with Ted Bundy.  Oh hells nah.  I will deal with the horrible achy pain for a few more days, thankyouverymuch.

Hope you are all having a good Thursday!

/End novel.

  • Shauni, for blisters I always do a foot bath with warm water and epsom salts. It draws out some of the liquid and helps them dry up quicker.

I have been doing that this entire time I have been training...of course I just ran out of epsom salt this week!  I will need to go to the store and start soaking my pups again :)

  • I'm reposting my novel here:

Oy, I'm soooo freaking exhausted. Wednesdays in general are really long for me and add my appt early yesterday morning and ugh. I had to give about a zillion vials of blood for testing (which I don't mind, I think the whole thing is kinda cool). H and I went and looked at baby furniture at this local discount warehouse and pretty much decided on a set. I worked from 12-4, which doesn't seem so long, but I had a million meetings and a thousand things to do. I didn't really want to go to baking, but I did anyway (cause we're getting graded) and I made some hard rolls and some raisin walnut rolls. The prof handed out our grading sheets and I have all perfect grades (yeah, I'm bragging). I was too exhausted when I got home to take a shower, so AM shower for me.

Funny thing that happened on Tuesday: H and I went to the mall because we were picking up our dinner from this restaurant that does these "dinner table Tuesday" things. I thought I looked 'meh' at best. I was wearing this grey dress that isn't low cut, has an empire waistline and is kinda flowy, beat up black flats, zero makeup and my hair was not cooperating. Not one, but TWO guys checked me out. H saw them, too. I insisted that they just saw my shoes and were like "ugh, those shoes are gross" and he insisted that they were head to toe-ing me, whatever that means. So we proceeded to banter until we got to the restaurant. H was looking at something behind me, while I sat at the bar to pick up our food. The freaking bartender totally hit on me. And I am the most awkward flirter in the world, so after I was SURE he was hitting on me, I was all like "Oh, my husband will take the bags, H!" And his face totally fell.

I feel like guys pay more attention when I look like crap. What's that all about?

  • I just read about your under the toenail blisters and died. I am posting this from the afterlife.

Last night I myself was a lazy troll. We heated up leftovers and watched Criminal Minds and Pan Am on the DVR. MFD left for his tap lesson - they are doing it in their New Year's routine - so I am calling him Mr. Bojangles because that's what my mother is calling him. hahahah

When he left I watched 90210 and CSI on DVR, let the dogs out, packed lunch and gym bag, watched an episode of The Big Bang Theory upstairs, and was asleep within minutes of my head hitting the pillow. zzzzzzz.

Today is rainy and humid. Assy weather. I am wearing a red top that I absolutely love, so there is my bright spot.

    Any fun weekend plans?

  • Toe blisters and tap lessons?  This is why I lurve you girls.

Tried to call K after work yesterday to have him start the Lasagna (cheating w/ a Stouffers freezer lasagna) but he didn't bother answering / responding.  As soon as I walked in the door he asked what was for dinner.  Frozen lasagna, derf.

Scrambled to get dinner together, played with the baby, was lazy on the couch, watched Suburgatory and fell asleep during Modern Family.

Baby is six months today!  And doing awesome with sitting up.  So nice to set him in the pnp with his move 'n crawl ball while I work.  He's motoring all over the place on his belly.

And, thanks Shauni.  There is a gaggle of cheerleaders chanting in my head now.  Fark.

  • I have a low key weekend planned, which is much different than the last 6 or so weekends. And much needed!

Getting my car back Friday, hausfrauing Saturday and Sunday, surprise 30th party Saturday night. And making a fabulous creamy mushroom mac & cheese.

  • OMG, Shauni!  That toenail thing made me cringe SO BAD!  I'm a total wuss when it comes to popping blisters and things, too.  I usually make K do it b/c he's weird and thinks that kinda stuff is cool.

Do you have a place to do yoga near you?  I swear, best thing for keeping muscles limber and healthy is yoga.  I love it.

Steph - What do you think of PanAm?  I've been watching it, too, and LOVED this past week's episode.  I love how they are tying in the impact of the times to the show instead of just making it a stupid story about a bunch of stewardesses.

I was a total lazy lump last night, too.  Didn't even eat dinner b/c I was too lazy to make it.  I can't wait for lunch today.  It's loaded potato soup day at Corner Bakery!

  • Rachel, I really like it. I teared up when Frenchie sang the German anthem and her chin was wobbling. Killer.

I LOVE CORNER BAKERY. I want to swim in a vat of their blackberry tea. I love their food.

OMG.  I was crying, too.  And K was sitting on the couch going back and forth between laughing and looking at me like I have 3 nipples.

I also love CB.  They just opened a new one less than a half mile from my house.  My pocketbook is in trou-ble.

  • Morning!  It's gross and rainy and humid.  I hate humidity.

Shauni - ewwww I didn't even know toenails could get blisters under them. Good luck with that.

SusieQ - happy 6 months to babyQ!!

Last night was a class night, I polled some of my May 2011 law grads about their jobs/salaries, because I am really nervous about the potential salary from the job offer I got this week.  I won't know the total number for a few days, but I'm already freaking out.  Lawyers are getting paid nothing right now and with $250k in loan debt, I kinda need to make enough to make the payments. As soon as I get a number I will feel much better. Or worse.

I am being such a lazy azz today.  I have 6 million errands to run, but no motivation to do so.  Blerg.  And I'm using the fact that my cat was sleeping in bed with me this morning as a good reason to not get out of bed.

  • QoA - I always feel weird when people think I look good when I feel like I look homeless. Different strokes for different folks! I am the worst flirter ever and am usually like "Ok." The End.

SusieQ-Happy six months baby Q! I hate scrambling for dinner and sometimes will make a few meals on Sunday just to avoid that. I love not cooking during the week.

  • Hey all!

It's a gloomy rainy day here.  :-(  Went home last night, ate dinner, and took a loooooong bath.  It was much needed.

Having mother issues today.  I just don't understand my mom at all, and we've always had an odd relationship.  She's driving me nuts and what i hate the most is then I feel guilty.  I shouldn't have to feel guilty about her weirdness....

Since J is hunting this weekend (P.S.  we talked and things are better with us now) I asked him yesterday morning if he would help me clean on friday night.  Not like we have anything else going on.  Well, when i got home yesterday, he was cleaning.  So i did my thing and then hopped in the tub.  About 10 minutes later, he comes barrelling in vaccuuming the rugs in the bathroom.  At first i was annoyed since i was trying to have a quiet relaxing bath.  Asked him why he was cleaning and he said "Because you want to do it friday night and I do NOT want to do it then."  So i just let it go.  Hey, if he wants to clean while i'm taking a bath, have at it boy!!!

ok so yes, there are yoga studios around but we are flat broke ($20 in our joint account until payday tomorrow.  SO FANCY.)

    HOWEVER,

i was checking out a new gym last night (ways to save money 101) and I of course did not have my gym stuff with me, and of COURSE there was a FREE yoga class as soon as I got there.  FREE YOGA for beginners.  I could have slapped myself.

it is being offered again next week and i fully intend on going.

Oh, I love the yoga. I'm pissed because my gym has classes on Mon, Wed, Sat and Sun and I can't go to the Mon and Wed ones (soccer and baking). Unfortunately, my gym doesn't have prenatal yoga classes and it costs too much money to switch gyms (cancellation fees, etc).

  • COMPLETE sidenote

I am bummed it is going to be cold and rainy this weekend.  I wanted to go for a hike.  I HATE being at home all weekend.  Just to make myself feel better about it, I am going to bake at LEAST two items, make soup, do a DEEP clean (wash all the linens, curtains, clean the grout, shlt like that), make gerren clean his truck so maybe we can sell it online, go see "ides of march," and hopefully go for a run.

in other news, all i want to do is SHOP.

i want new house stuff (why does nothing match?!  aren't we adults?  oh yeah, we are broke...), and at least 2 pairs of new shoes (flats and boots), and new jeans, new work pants, a new sweater or two and at least 2 new shirts.

and new sneakers and running clothes for winter.

    well fvck a duck.

Oooh, yeah.  Free yoga is nice!  I always forget how expensive it is for the over-priced yoga studios.  My work has a fitness program and they subsidize the payment so that I only end up paying $5/class.  And it's right here in our gym.  I'm a spoiled brat.

Once you go to a few classes and learn the basics, though, it's easy to do at home if you have the desire and discipline.  Which it seems like you do if you can force yourself to run 13 miles! :-)

  • Morning ladies. After waking up just before 6 b/c apparently my nighttime cold pill wore off, I was up for about a half hour sucking on a cough drop before H got up and around for work at 7ish. Fell back into a deep sleep until about 9:30.... This cold is kicking my azz.

Was pretty lazy last night, except for making spaghetti for dindin. Was super annoyed that I missed the cheaper gas price yesterday. It went up 26 cents! Ugh. Haven't the oil companies made enough millions??!?

Have to go to town for the bank and a few errands, including getting a few groceries when H gets out of work. Whoo.

QofA- I actually had a guy running the bumpercars at a fair randomly hit on me with a "You dropped your pocket" line. It didn't make any sense, so I just turned around and said huh? then moved over closer to H and away from the creepy carnie. Yeesh.

Shauni- Reason numero uno that I will never be a "runner". Blisters under the nail? NO thanks.

Susie- Yay on Baby Q being halfway to a year! It goes SO fast!

  • Shauni-ditto on the gross toenails.  I would scream like a banshee if I tried to pop them myself.  Good luck w/ that.  And all I want to do is shop too.

SusieQ-happy 6m to babyQ!  and gaggle of cheerleaders made me LOL.  They are still a-chanting in my head too.  "You ugly huh huh you ugly!"

Mary-yay for a cleaning husband.  Put that one down in the record book

Never tried yoga.  Think I'm too big to balance myself.  Maybe it'll be on the workout agenda, now that step, zumba and running are 86'd.

Going to get a b-day mani/pedi in a few hours, so excited.  While you're drying, they give a head & neck massage.  Please and thank you.  Dinner tonight at a hibachi grill, but now I'm craving some Corner Bakery soup.  May make a lunchtime stop.  I'm easily influenced!

Please everyone stop wishing for Friday, it means the vacay is over! :(

  • I am making a soup and a fancy mac & cheese this weekend, and either brownies or cookies - something MFD can take to his office Monday when I am back to good eating.

I want new boots, new black flats, and new modern boot cut black pants for work from Le Gap.

I will wait on the pants until next week when I return another pair. I am going to peek into DSW Friday for either a shoe or a boot.

I also need to buy things to make my halloween costume this weekend.

  • Hi ladies! Sorry in advance for the lack of paragraphs. I'll keep it short. Something fishy is going on with work so I'm only using the comp for work related sites now. Word through the grapevine is that they're keeping an eye on contract speech people. I'm really hoping this blows over soon but I probably won't be posting regularly anymore. :( I'll lurk and be d@mm good at that though from my phone :)

  • Misty - huzzah for bday mani/pedi and dinner at hibachi. I hope you've had an enjoyable week off.

I am also not down for 30+ minutes of yoga...however I do enjoy starting and ending my day with 5-10 minutes of yoga stretching.

  • Shauni - your blister under the toenail reminds me of this part in the book, The Extra Mile, I remember the runner, Pam Reed, describes popping her blisters on her feet that looked like hamburger meat. this is after running through triple digit weather for hours. Yes, you have me to blame for losing your lunch now.

Nothing too exciting happened yesterday (except for my IUI), got home and sat on the couch and went to Target to pick up some groceries. I'm hoping to go for an easy walk with my dog today.

  • This week has gone by surprisingly fast...for me.  We are just about done with our Halloween decorations.  It was funny because the kids from accross the street ran over to look at our "scary" house, and they wouldn't leave!  Hahaha...We still want to add a few more things to make it really scary.  Rich got a $250 bonus in the form of Amex gift cards so we will be using some of that for a few more props.

I'm busy at work because our employee called in that he would not be in this week.  Apparently he went up to Arcata to visit his girlfriend (a student at Humboldt).  He almost reached his destination, when his car hit a patch of dirt, did a 180, then a 360, and hit the side of a hill.  He left us a message on Saturday with that explanation.  Then he called in on Monday stating that the damage was around $2k, but would not find out for sure until Wed.  He called yesterday and the damage is now estimated at $3-5k, so he will not be in all week.::shakes head:: Yeah, we're giving this guy the boot.  In the 3 months he's been here he's already missed two entire weeks due to crazy a$$ situations he's been in.  Now my co-worker and I have to do his job so that sales don't suffer.

  • Shauni, that's totally what people do.  You can actually go to the doctor if you want to get it done without doing it yourself, though that's kind of a hassle and may be expensive depending on your insurance.  A friend of mine has gotten it done a couple of times at the Minute Clinic for $10 per visit.

And I definitely have that song in my head now, so thanks for that Stick out tongue

Edited because there was too much whining.  Short story: I hate maintenance, the people at the Verizon store (but not their customer service phone people!), and everyone at my doctor's office.
