Have you been to Vegas?

My brother is getting married there at 2am. in a month or so.   My parents are going.

I'm not sure if I am going to go because I haven't found anyone to watch my kids.

Questions -

Would you take your kids to Vegas?  (4 and 1.5 years old)

Any hotel recommendations?

Am must sees while I am there?

Am I terrible if I don't go?

Re: Have you been to Vegas?

  • I used to go every year for work, but haven't for quite a while now, so I'm sure things have really changed!

Can your IL's watch the kids so you and DH can go?  Otherwise, I say go with your parents and leave the girls at home with DH.  :)

If I was going I'd probably want to see Holly Madison's show, I heard its pretty good!

Not terrible if you don't go!

  • 2am, that's crazy!  I'd need a nap before attending that wedding?

    - I would not take my kids if I could avoid it.

    - I love to stay in the middle of the strip, so Mirage, Venitian, Treasure Island, Palazzo.

    - Depends what you are in to.  Shows are nice, but they run the gamut and can get pricey, so find one you really want to see.  Just walking through hotels if you haven't been before is fun.  It's fun to go downtown, the light show isn't anything too crazy, but everything is cheaper there and closer to walk to.  You will likely see an Elvis down there too.

    - If you can't find a sitter, I wouldn't go.  I had DS 6 weeks before my brother got married and if I had not had the ILs to watch him, I would not have gone to Mexico with 2 kids.

  • I haven't been but I'm guessing you wouldn't want your kids awake at 2 am for the wedding so I would try to leave them at home. Either with DH or anothe family member.

It's up to you if you miss it. My brother got married in Mexico and even though the expense sucked, I would have never missed it. But they didn't do a reception back home so it was good to see him.

My SIL saw the Peep Show (with Holly Madison) and said it was good Confused

  • I wouldn't take your kids to Vegas, but that's just me.  I see plenty of kids there, but I do give the side eye.  To me, Vegas is an adult playground, and getaway..plus, there is very little for kids to do there.

I would definately stay on the strip..the places closest to the middle tend to be the most expensive.  I've honestly stayed everywhere from the Stratosphere and Circus Circus (super cheap) to Ceasers and Paris (more pricey), and with the small amount of time you spend in your room, it really doesn't matter.

For your first time, there are tons of fun things to do..some free, some pretty pricey..such as shows.  Alot of people say the Cirque shows are worth the money?

Just make sure you hit at least one Fat Tuesdays for the best dacquiris in Vegas!

  • No, I wouldnt take my kids.. and yes, you're terrible if you dont go. :)  Make it a short weekend, two nights!
