I've said some things on the BWB posts, but don't usually make posts myself. I figured I might as well, since I know at least a few people are interested, and better than having to remember it later ![]()
Early this pregnancy I was feeling okay, but about 30 weeks things started to get a lot more uncomfortable and challenging. I know the later time in pregnancy (or the whole thing) can be rough, but I think we are headed for an induction before my due date.
My blood pressure has been borderline for a while, and we have been watching it, but it's slowly starting to creep up. Here's a rundown of what I have going on: borderline high blood pressure, HUGE swelling (accounts for 16 pounds gained in two weeks....), lots of headaches, heartburn/acid reflux, lots of pelvic pain, dizziness, seeing spots (both light and dark), increasing heart palpitations, difficulty breathing at times, exhaustion, insomnia, GBS+, carpal tunnel, and some other things.
I had a 24 hour urine collection and blood work last week, which I passed. I had 240, and anything under 300 is passing. My OB is having me do another one, that I start tomorrow morning and will take back on Friday AM.
My OB knows I'm not working anymore, and I didn't get orders for bed rest, but she wants me to do as little as possible and basically rest all day. She gave me more things to look out for and told me to start complaining to DH more (so he knows what's going on) and gave me a list of times to call her if something changes.
I continue to be 1.5cm dilated since last appointment, and she doesn't think I'll make it to my due date. She told me, "you're are walking a very fine line and we need to watch you so that when you fall (figuratively) it's not bad". She keeps mentioning induction and what she's watching for, etc. She doesn't want to rush one, but also wants to make sure we go that route if needed.
My next appointment is on Monday. DH and I bought an electric blood pressure cuff on the way home, and plan to take my BP three times a day, more if I'm not feeling quite right. I'm supposed to call if my top number is more than 140 and the bottom is more than 90. DH who doesn't worry did tell me he's starting to get concerned and worried.
I'm okay at the moment, but a bit stressed, as I think anyone would be. Any T&P's that things would be okay would be appreciated. I'm pretty sure I'll be induced if I fail the 24 hour urine collection, and if my BP continues to be borderline/high. I just want a healthy baby and for both of us to be okay, if that means induction or c-section, that's fine, I just want all to be well. I feel like my OB is hovering over the 'induction button', so I'm half expecting her to decide that on Monday. I am 100% competent in her ability and she's been very thorough with us.
I'm glad DH and I got most things done last weekend. I'm planning on finishing our hospital bag tomorrow so it's ready to go.
Sorry, that's very long. Either way, thanks for your support.
Re: BR: Update on us (long)
I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well.
I think taking your own BP is a really smart idea - as is 'self imposed' bed-rest. Taking it easy really does help keep the BP down. I went in with a headache at 32 weeks and was admitted for a WEEK- - so they definitely take this stuff seriously for a reason. It can go from meh so-so to very bad quickly so I agree with your Doc to speak-up if anything is off.
Take care of yourself.
Definitely will be thinking of you, that you feel good and that blood pressure stays down! But, it sounds like your doctor is on top of things and if Eloise is ready soon, then we all just get to meet her sooner! Do you have a labor buddy yet just in case?
Try not to worry-you have a good doctor and you are taking care of yourself!
Yikes! I hope things stay under control and you pass the next 24-hr urine.
I definitely know how you feel about the whole induction thing, although ours would be for different reasons. Hopefully our little one's will make appearances on their own!
Take it easy and keep us updated!
Yep! Jessica (Razz) is all set and ready to update!

I had a lot of the same blood pressure related things towards the end of my pregnancy, even on meds for it. I was induced at 39 weeks and other than a bit of jaundice for the babe (due to his vacuum extraction from being sunny side up and huge, most likely) everything was fine.
My friend delivered at 37w1d due to hbp (the day after me!) and although her little guy was smaller (right under 6lbs) neither momma or baby had complications (just jaundice again).
So, I say all of that to hopefully let you know that things will be fine.
Rest and try to relax and definitely call if you need to! T&P!

It sounds like you have an amazing doc! :-)
Try to relax and spoil yourself. Lots of positive vibes heading your way, mama!
