**jennyk213** Homemade shea/cocoa butter
I read your response below to the person asking about the homemade body butter. When you say 8 parts to 2 parts. How much is that exactly? I tried to do this and I'm having the same issue with mine - its soft at first but then a few hours later its hard as a rock. I'm wondering if I used too much of something and the parts aren't quite balanced. I don't like fragrance and its nice to have something that is soft to use a lotion. Please explain how much a "part" should be. TIA.
Re: **jennyk213** Homemade shea/cocoa butter
It can be any amount you want as long as the finished product is 80% shea butter and 20% oil (8 parts to 2 parts). In amounts that would be
1/4 c. shea butter to 1 Tbsp. oil
1/2 c. shea butter to 1/8 c. oil
1 c. shea butter to 1/4 c. oil
I hope this helps! Sorry that my original post was confusing.
Also, I don't remember if I had it in the original post but I whip mine with the mixer on the highest speed for a while....like a good 5 minutes or longer sometimes...until it gets light and fluffy.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
Good luck! I hope it works this time.
