Orlando airline tickets?

Does anyone know the cheapest/best route as far as airline tickets to Orlando? We are going in May, and wondered if it was best to buy early for the best prices or to wait a bit. Also, any thoughts/experiences with Allegiant Airlines?

Re: Orlando airline tickets?

  • I'd think Alligient Air would be the cheapest, easiest route since they fly direct from DSM. We flew through them in Aug. for a trip to LA and had no problems. I think you could probably wait on price. I stalked ticket prices for about 5 months and the prices stayed pretty steady. The only thing I would warn you about is that you have to pay an additional $50-ish to have an assigned seat, otherwise it's open seating. We decided to pay the extra since I was about 7 months pregnant at the time and wanted to be close to my husband, and the bathroom. However, after flying we probably would have been fine not getting the assigned seats. Most people who hadn't still got to sit next to their companions or were able to work it out with other passengers to get next to them.

  • We have taken the Allegiant flight from DSM down to Orlando twice and had no problems.  It was cheap and a pleasant flight.  The only thing is it flies into the Sanfard Orland airport and that is a little north of Orlando proper so you would have a little bit of a drive to get down to the touristy part of Orlando.  You can probably wait on buying.  May isn't too crazy as it's after spring break time so you should be able to buy tickets at a reasonable price for quite some time.

If allegiant has an e-mail alerts program you can sign up for, I would do it.  Sometimes they run $7 one way flight deals or $99 round trip flight deals and they will send you an e-mail alert for those deals.
