I am in tears.

One of my friends volunteers at an animal shelter in the city.  They find lots of stray animals who have been abused and neglected in the inner-city.  Today they found two that are so skinny I just couldn't believe it .. you could count every rib.  One of them was thrown in the dumpster and still alive when they found him.  They rushed him to the vet but unfortunately he passed.  He looked so sad.  I can't imagine how he must have felt being thrown into a dumpster.  All these doggies deserve is love and cuddles and they get this.

Some people suck.

  • (hugs) Some things are just not rationally explainable. This is one of the hardest things for me to deal with in life-- the knowledge that it's going on and there's nothing I can really do (besides donate money and goods, which I do.  I wish I could donate time.)

FWIW, I truly believe there is a special place in hell reserved for those who abuse animals, children, the elderly, the mentally impaired... anyone who cannot fend for themselves.

I cannot believe people could do that. Agree there is a special place in hell for them. Tearing up reading about those poor animals :(. I always say if I won the lottery I would do my own rescue or have a huge farm to give so many more animals a loving home.

    Nicely said Kim.

DH and I say the same thing...we'll either volunteer a good chunk of time at shelters already running, or we'll open our own.

  • So sad!

My brother's GF posted last night on FB a pic and story about what really happens when people bring their pets to a shelter. The pic was a pile of cats that were "put to sleep" (yeah right).

Between this post and hers, I want to go home and hug both my shelter animals.

  • Thanks ladies.  Sad as it is, I can't help but agree that there's a special place for the helpless as well as those who abuse them.
