Nervous about underwriting process.

We did all the paperwork and document submitting (bank statements, etc.) for our loan 2 weeks ago today. This past Tuesday I got a call from our loan person saying that our loan would be submitted for underwriting by the end of this week, and we will hear something back by the middle of next week.

For some reason I am really nervous that our loan won't be approved. We were already pre-approved of course, and our LO told us at the end of our first meeting that she didn't see any reason why we couldn't put in our 60 day move out notice for our lease... so I am not sure why I am so worried.

How likely is it for a loan to go through underwriting and not get the final approval?

Just need some reassurance I guess. :-)

  • Probably not what you want to hear....

DH & I were pre approved, and assured the whole way through the buying process. Three days before closing we find out our loan app has been denied. Underwriting "uncovered" something the broker overlooked.

Dont give notice until you close. I hope this type of thing does not happen to you, but sh!t happens & brokers are occasionally stupid. Good luck!

Ahhh.. oh no! So sorry this happened to you. If you don't mind sharing, what was it that they "uncovered"?

That I do not have a solid 2 year work history, and we did FHA loan where that is a requirement for an hourly/commission employee.
