Can I Vent about...

School buses. The past two weeks I have been behind the same two as I leave my town, and another two as I enter Grafton. Normally I don't mind, but now the new thing is for each child to be picked up at their own driveway ie. the bus stops about 75 times. It stops, drives 12 feet and stops, drives another 10 feet and stops... What ever happened to one bus stop for the neighborhood? I had to walk almost half a mile to my stop when I was in middle school. Forget high school! Sorry extremely irritated that my last drive to work was obnoxiously longer than it should've been. On a plus note, it will be the last time I have to deal with this nonsense :)

  • The kindergarten bus has to stop at every house because the kids are too little to walk home alone.

These are not kindergarteners. The kids I see being picked up are probably 3rd-8th grade. Regardless, just ranting about my added 20 minutes to work today.

  • I am cool with the bus stopping every 5 feet to pick up kids, but I get irrationally angry when the big kids take their sweet ass time getting on/off the bus.  Like 5 minutes to get on the bus is crazy.

Very true! I rarely get stuck behind high school buses so that is not often an annoyance for me. But I know where you're coming from.

  • When I lived at my mom's house and commuted to Hartford, there was literally no route I could take to the highway that didn't go past at least 4 schools.  So not only did I get stuck behind a gazillion buses every morning, I also got stuck at every crosswalk.  It used to make me insane, because my commute was long enough. Plus, my office was right next to the high school and we started at the same time as them. So you'd have to wait for ages just to pull in the parking lot some days, because they'd take forrrrreeever to pass the driveway.

But at least today is your last day of that commute, so huzzah!

  • Yikes 5000 that sounds like a nightmare commute! But "huzzah" is right! Woohoooo!
