Does anyone have a garbage disposal?

I repainted our cabinets and when I was re-hanging them a screw must have fallen down the sink without my knowing. Sometime later I turned our disposal on and heard a horrible noise so stopped. DH looked down it and saw the screw is stuck in it - like right below the blade. He tried for an hour to get it out with pliers and it's stuck pretty good. We don't use it that often but the other night our sink was draining super slow b/c we can't clear it out. I'm not sure if I can just fix that part or how much it would cost to even just remove the whole thing. It came with the house so I have no clue how old it is.

Also, who would I call? All Appliance?

Re: Does anyone have a garbage disposal?

  • We bought a new disposal and just replaced it ourselves. I think a new one cost us like $80? Maybe even less. I know we got it on sale at Menards.

And to put it bluntly --- my DH is not handy --- at all. Ours had the instructions on how to replace it right on the box.

  • Super cheap to just replace.   We had to do ours a few years back, so I would just do that!
  • Ditto...just replace it.  They are cheap and easy to install.  The directions are pretty much idiot proof Wink
