And it doesn't completely suck!!! Pretty good starting salary, not great, but definitely better than it could have been!
Whooop whooop!

Re: AW: Offer came in!
What I plan on doing is talking with my tax professor from last year, who I think would give me honest feedback if the offer is good or open for negotiation. I have no experience in accounting or lawyering and the offer is for a tax attorney in an accounting firm :-)
I may try for extra vacation or ask to have my bar review class paid for or something or maybe for a few thousand extra because I don't need their health care plan?
Holy crap! That's crazy! I was too scared to ask for a negotiation when I first started. I ended up getting a $3k market adjustment within my first few months, though.
And congrats, Angie! Any job is good news, but one that doesn't have sucky pay is even better! :-)
Congrats! I think it is a great idea to talk to your old professor and get some feedback before negotiating. I always negotiate with a new job, but if you feel comfortable with the salary they offered then take it.
Either way, GOOD FOR YOU!

Congrats Angie! That's awesome!!
I've never negotiated for salary because I've never had to. I have negotiated for vacation days and for them to pay for classes, etc.
I want to look for a new job, but am nervous since the economy sucks. I feel like there might not be room for negotiations of any kind these days.
