Boudoir Pics - what did you pay, who did you get?

Friend lives in Bloomington, but goes all over in the twin cities. She wanted to know if I wanted to add a shoot to a boudoir session she was thinking of booking. It has hair, makeup and the studio use for $550. That's to rich for my blood, and a year ago I swear I found cheaper options when I was looking into it. What prices did you find and did it include pictures?

Re: Boudoir Pics - what did you pay, who did you get?

  • I would post this over on The Knot local too. :) The girls over there are asking about/doing b-pic sessions pretty regularly and may have some more suggestions!

I know Sugar & Spice gets recommended a lot, but they're $500+ too.

  • I did mine through Amber Procaccini Photography

She does boudoir sessions a couple times a year where she gets a hotel room for a day and has someone to do hair/makeup. Then she'll have several girls sign up all for the same day so then it's cheaper for everyone. You could contact her to find out if she has any coming up. I believe it was about $250 (back in 2009).

  • La Vie did mine back in 2009. I cant remember what I paid just for my shoot + disk since I also booked (on my own) a hotel room and hair/makeup with S&C for it. But they are fabulous and working with Sally was amazing.

  • I did mine at O'Halloran Photography in 2007, and I LOVED how they turned out.  It was really affordable too, IMO. I think I paid like $150, and got an 8 x 10, plus a disc with all of the images.  I am sure the prices have changed since then, but still would be much more reasonable than $550.
Lots of love and continual explosions of babydust to my BG Besties! XOXOXOXO

  • I used Jessica Fleming.  She had a groupon for a photography in general and I used that for her boudoir session.  It was a good experience.  I think it was about $175 or so for the session and 3 prints after the groupon.  I can't remember but it was a great deal!
  • Chelsea, I'm a photographer by trade and $550 is an excellent deal with the hair/make-up. I personally only do boudoir photography for a select few clients but have many friends who do a lot boudoir and are in that $500-range with digital negatives.

With photography, you really do get what you pay for. Some of the cheaper options aren't as experienced with light and posing and with something as intimate as boudoir, you want someone who will make you feel comfortable and knows how to work with light (quality of light can be the difference between cellulite and no cellulite) and also who can pose you so it's not like, hey look at my vajayjay on display. Just saying.

Sometimes Cadence Cornelius will offer mini-shoots for boudoir so keep an eye on her blog for those if you are more budget conscious.

  • I got mine done in Chicago for under $400, and that included hair/makeup and unlimited outfit changes. My fave MN photog, laura ivanova, also does boudior starting at $195 (not including hair and makeup), but she's going back and forth from MN and NYC right now, so it might be hard to book her. Either way, check out www.lauraivanova.com for more info!
