Ugh... medical-related question
it is turning into one of THOSE days. DH just got home from a hospital
visit (he was visiting one of his elderly parishioners who
was hospitalized earlier this week). He was only gone briefly - turns
out that he couldn't see his parishioner b/c they suspect he has
tuberculosis, so he's in isolation. DH obviously didn't see him today,
but DID see him for a half hour a few days ago (before he was in
isolation/they suspected TB). Sooooo we have a call in to the pedi for
DS and the OB for me, b/c I have no idea if this
is something we need to be concerned about or not. Luckily DH has
worked as a hospital chaplain before and therefore washes up
obsessively after doing hospital visits, but even so... sigh. I need
today to be over already.
Anyone w/ any experience on TB exposure and whether or not I need to be worried about DS, myself, or LO as I wait for calls back from the pedi and OB?
Re: Ugh... medical-related question
I've been exposed to TB. I didn't know that I had been until I was skin tested for a job that I was starting.
I got a positive skin test, was told to NEVER get that skin test again. I'm not sure if they can do the skin test on children or pg ladies, so you'll have to see what can be done to show an exposure.
I have a yearly chest x-ray to check my lungs. Being exposed doesn't mean that you have or will get TB.
