Fuzzy

Did I understand your post correctly?  Your H pays $668 a month, out of pocket, for his health insurance?!  If this is the case I will quit complaining about our premiums going up this year.  I am blown away.  Is this the norm?

Re: Fuzzy

  • I pay out of pocket for his health insurance -- mine is covered by the state. His premium has gone up every year. I could get it cheaper if I went back to the basic option with Health Choice, but I prefer the High option.

The little raise I got for my M.M. this year is going away in January with the increase in his premium, as well. Every year I seem to make a little less than the year before, because of his health insurance.

I tried to find something else, but he was skeptical of using another insurance company. Besides, we're not hurting for money or anything. It is ridiculous how much his insurance costs, but most of the other options available to me through work are actually more expensive, the most expensive being $1,105/mo. I will definitely not be using that HMO!

  • I just had no idea they could get that expensive.  I think it's like $30 for me to add DH to my plan or me to his.  I'm shocked!
  • Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. H is convinced that when Obamacare takes effect, I'll see his health insurance take a cut. He can't get health insurance through his place of work because it isn't offered (it's just him and his dad). His dad always had his mom's teacher health insurance, as well.
