Ohmygosh

A girl in my office who sits right behind me just sent me a link to a pair of shoes she is considering buying. They weren't ugly, but NMS. They fit her personality totally. Anywho...they were $895!! I was like oh my goodness... that is almost 2 months of my daycare bill.

Ok I just had to share!

  • I will never, EVER, understand how people can justify paying that much for a single item of clothing.

Agreed! I can think of a million things I'd rather spend $895 on, shoes can be bought at Payless or if you want to go "higher end" Nine West Outlet, Penney's, Dillards, etc., but still for a lot less than that kind of money.

I also agree.  Even if I had tons of money I would have a hard time justifying a purchase like that!

  • That completely boogles my mind. I don't buy it if it's not on sale or clearance. I can't tell you the last time I bought shoes that were more than $40!

  • I can't believe that 2 months of your daycare is around $895!

I pay $500 a month, so $1000 for two. Remember, Maggie only goes to daycare 2 days a week!

  • Yikes that is crazy, I can hardly bring myself to spend $100 on a good pair of shoes much less $800.

Okay, for 2 days a week, that's a lot! At first I was going to ask how you found somewhere near Boston that is that cheap!

$895 for shoes? Yeah, that's a little much. While I dream about having a shoe closet like Carrie from SATC, I rock danskos and driving moccasins 24/7. Heels, wtf are those?

This dude. I think my most expensive pair of shoes ever were really nice boots for $55. And I hemmed and hawed FOREVER about the price. Shoes aren't a priority for me lol

  • I am ALWAYS hesitant to purchase anything because of the price.  If it's not on sale or clearance I usually don't even turn my head.  Last night we bought Landon a pair of shoes from Stride Rite (because he just outgrew his others) and I gasped when they rang up as $41 and some change.  E on the other hand doesn't blink an eye at prices and it dries me CRAZY!

I got Parker some shoes from Stride Rite Outlet and they were still $36 and change.  They are the only ones that stay on his feet and last through his abuse.

This is Me and Lincoln exactly, too.  Money just burns a hole through his pocket and I'm all like 'WE CAN'T AFFORD THAT!!!'

Exactly! I only buy shoes out of necessity and then it's a splurge to go to Kohls and see what's on sale.

THIS... wow... I also dont get spending hundreds of dollars on purses and other accessories, but this is from a girl who loves flip flops from Ralphs/Payless and purses from Kohl's/Walmart... I get awesome dresses from Ross and love the clearance racks at Payless. Smile I never did fit into the trendy LA fashion scene lol.

  • The only time I spent real money on shoes it is for running shoes.

  • The most I've ever spent for shoes is $80 and that was an annomily (sp?). I usually don't spend over $40. If I owned shoes or an accessory or something worth that much, I'd be scared I'd lose it or damage it and then I'd be devastated.

  • Depending on what they are I do. I think my dress boots I got last winter were about $120 or so.

ETA: this was in response to Alise, the quote didnt work.

LOL, good this makes me feel better for spending $100 on my dress boots last winter as well. I always get leather ones so they last way longer as well. My last pair I had since I was in 11th grade, so about 6-7 years. So in the long run I guess spending $100-120 on boots wasn't a waste because of how long I wore them.

I plan to splurge on boots/shoes next weekend in Vegas :) I think $120.00 on shoes is not that much of a stretch. Mine are usually from Walmart for $20.00, but they never last long

I used to buy Walmart shoes when I was younger, then I figured out that I could by $60 shoes and they lasted much much longer. So rather than spending $20 on shoes every few months I guess I'd rather spend the extra on a pair of shoes and have them last at least a year if not more

Me too! My first pair was about $100, now that I've been fitted for shoes and know the brand/model that work best for me I always try to buy the previous year model on clearance on runningwarehouse.com or somewhere else on the Internet for half price.
