I can't believe I'm actually asking about poop!
I know infant constipation is a matter of consistency, not frequency. LO's BMs have been the consistency of modeling clay and he is obviously straining to get them out. We've tried prune baby food, but it hasn't made a difference. Since my Ped's office does NOT call back to answer questions, but rather wants you to come in for an office visit, I am asking the experts here! I know some apple juice should help him out, but what should I dilute it to? Is 1 part juice to 4 parts water too diluted? I really wanted to not give juice until he was older, but will do what needs to be done. Any advice on ratios of juice to water is appreciated!

Landon was on soy for a while and he was always constipated. We tried prune juice straight and it wouldn't work!
We tried pear, apple juice, karo syrup... finally we just stuck a thermometer up there to make him push!

Like other's have mentioned, p foods/juices, Karo, oatmeal, suppositories, warm baths, warm belly compresses, digestive massage. We've broken down juice blends from 1 part juice to 4 parts water, up to straight prune juice. Of course, taking out any binding foods, rice, banana, dairy (B's of course too young for that, but it's just something).
Unfortunately for Alex none of these have helped her. But I they were suggestions we were given.
