how to get stains out of floors

we have been trying everything to get stains out of the linoleum floors in the kitchen and bathrooms....honestly it looks like the previous owners never moped the floors. What can we use or do (besides replacing them) to get them half way clean?

TIA

Re: how to get stains out of floors

  • I've never tried this, but I've read that you can use full-strength white vinegar on linoleum stains.

Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes before wiping it up. If that doesn?t work, apply white distilled vinegar again and then sprinkle some baking soda over the white distilled vinegar. Scrub the area with a brush or sponge. Rinse clean with water.

This is the site where I found this:   http://www.vinegartips.com/  under the cleaning tab.

  • I second the baking soda and vinegar idea.  I had tried several cleaning products to get spilled red margarita mix stains off the kitchen counter.  Nothing worked, so I poured baking soda over the stain, then poured spoonfuls of white vinegar over it.  I let it sit for about 15 minutes and then wiped it up, and the stain came out completely!
