Gymnastic class?

I know some of you take your kiddos to a gymnastic class?  Anyone in Portland?  Where?  Age limits?

Re: Gymnastic class?

  • It's probably farther than you want to go, but Helen goes to GymNation in Kennebunk. She's in the preschool class (ages 3-4) but they have a toddler & parent class for 1 and 2 year olds.

  • I think we're trying the one that Sarah takes Eli to This winter since its pay as you go. Forget where it is, waterboro i think? I'm not ready to sign up for a season at gym nation. Kimberly, how do you like it though?
  • GymNation schedules classes by the semester but you pay month to month so you're not committed to the whole season. They also do a free trial class. I think it might be on the pricey side (we pay $63/month for Helen's once a week 45 minute class) but there aren't many places to choose from in the Sanford area.

Helen adores the classes. There are always two instructors with her class and there aren't that many kids so they get plenty of supervision. There seems to be a good variety of activities; they don't do the same stuff week after week. This may be normal for gymnastics classes but I have no idea, since I never took them as a kid.

Yup, it's through the Waterboro Rec. Eli loved it last year and we're looking forward to doing it again this winter. Although the fall session was canceled due to some issue with the facility, so hopefully they'll have it. It's pretty basic, but fun and you pay as you go- $9 a class I think.

We also did a toddler yoga class in Waterboro this summer which he loved too!

  • The boys took a class at Cumberland County Gymnastics over the summer and it was great.  It was for walking to age 3.  Thats the class I was talking about at Smiling Hill on Saturday!  Dina is awesome with the kids.

  • A little late, but I also suggest Cumberland County Gymnastics..I used to take Brielle there. Dina was really great and patient with my little independent friend, she tended to do her own thing despite it being circle time. Brielle loved it though, especially the trampoline and the swing over the "cheese". Plus it was riot to see the kiddos practicing yoga poses...I also met a lot of nice mommy friends when I was there...

  • Ridley LOVES gymnastics.  We take her to Andy Valley Gymnastics in Lewiston (which I am sure if farther than you want to travel).

  • Maine Academy of Gymnastics in Westbrook on Terminal Road is the one in the Portland area. They're great, and have lots of options for classes. The littlest class is more like a parent/kid class.
