s/o Do you think it's rude ....
do you think it's rude to ask someone with a limp 'what happened to you?'
dh is limping around now (because he still can't bend his knee after his motorcycle accident)
we are shocked at how people ask ALL the time
I just think it's so rude! what if he was born that way? I just would never do that.....
Re: s/o Do you think it's rude ....
oh and also he just went back into the office for the first time in 10 weeks last week
and found that the guy who had been covering his role had worn HIS dress shoes around office (which first off is gross) and also has wide feet and totally stretched them out so they don't even fit dh anymore
people are unbelievable sometimes!
Someone wore his SHOES!?!? That is just wrong for far too many reasons.
If you know someone who has never limped and now is limping I don't think it rude to ask what happened. However to walk up to a stranger who is limping and ask what happened is quite rude. I would never do that.
What part of Oz do you live in again? I want to avoid that area....
If he was a Bogan, it's probably the first time he's worn shoes ;-)
Disclaimer: My ILs are self described Bogans (yea me) and no, they do not wear shoes unless they absolutely have to, like at work or on a plane. No shoes in the grocery store? Yep, that's them.
Me too!
Yes, I think it is rude. But I also find that people have no qualms in just saying what they are thinking. People ask me ALL the time what is wrong with Lila's head (she has a cyst on her forehead that is being removed tomorrow). I seriously am shocked at the amount of people who say it, strangers, and oddly enough usually men. I mean for all they know it could be some sort of cancerous tumor, and then wouldn't they feel like an ass for asking?
The shoe thing is gross. I would tell your dh to tell him to buy new ones! Weird.

Here's a definition for a Bogan

Also Bogan = Chav's in the UK or Redneck/WT in the US
That's so rude. People are idiots.
I have a scar under my left eye, its a birth mark, but I am always asked how I got it. It usually doesn't bother me, but I had a teacher in Middle School who asked me if I could get removed by plastic surgery and that I should because it takes so much away from "my pretty face"....it was a bit bigger then, as I've become older it's faded, but WTF? My mom was called the principal to complain about that psycho teacher.
I think some people would prefer that someone ask what happened rather than just be gawked at by an idiot making assumptions. But then again, they could always just mind their own business.
As for the shoes, wtf! That is freaky weird.
I agree with a lot of the others - if they knew him previously, not rude; but quite rude if they're just meeting.
And I'm shocked about the shoes! Who does that??! I would also ask that guy to replace the shoes.
Cecilia arrived 12 October 2012
I am most shocked by the shoe thing! That's just gross!
As for the other questions, yes I'd find that rude and I'm kind of surprised people are asking. I mean, if I knew him before I would ask what happened, but if I was just a stranger on the street I may wonder but I'd never open my mouth and ask.
oh yea - I totally agree with if they knew him before it's not rude
I mean like Saturday when we stopped for gas (petrol) and the guy in the shop said 'what happened to you?', and in the grocery store, just out and about, etc. It happens ALL the time, which shocks me
yea and the shoe thing - nasty if you ask me. He's a fitness instructor in his off time too, so the people in the office say he comes back reeking when he teaches a class at lunch - you can just imagine how bad his feet would be too ewwwww - those went straight in the bin
I know!

The shoe thing is disgusting. He needs to buy your H a new pair!
I don't think it's rude if they knew your H pre-limp. Random people like the petrol guy, I wouldn't say rude but definitely being nosy and none of their business.
I used to keep heels at the office for last minute meetings when flip flops or other casual shoes wouldn't be appropriate.
