Hi, Seattle Nesties!
Jennlin suggested I come over and say hello! So, here I am... 
I'm looking forward to getting to know you ladies!
A little about me: I'm 27, DH is 28, and we're expecting our first child in February. We own a house up northish (Edmonds/Woodway area), but I like coming in to the city. I'm a SAHW right now, and planning to be a SAHM once the baby's here.
DH and I are both geeks, lol, and lately I've been getting into baking and learning how to sew.
Anyway, I hope you are all having a fantastic weekend!

What have you started learning to sew?? I'm super curious of course because I enjoy sewing as well, and do lots of different projects!

1st year anniversary in Victoria with a killer whale topiary!
niq is our resident dude. we like having him around to offer the male point of view....i think. it's also fun to talk about uberly girly things and having niq react to those.
regardless, we like niq, and don't censor yourself because there's a boy on this board.
and there's very little actual "censoring" on this board. we talk about everything freely....just try to keep the vocab SFW since most of us nest from work.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!
And sorry for not including you in the initial greeting, niq. 
My first major project is a laptop bag for my 17 incher -- none of the laptop bags I could find online seemed to work for me. (They were all either really ugly or didn't have enough pockets!) So, I grabbed a pattern (Butterick B4560) and started altering it to be big and supportive enough to hold a 17" laptop and have internal compartments, more pockets, and padding. ("Walk before you run"? What does that mean?)
Right now, I have all my pieces measured, cut and interfaced, including the foam, and I'm working on embroidering a monogram for the shoulder pad.
The embroidery may be a form of procrastinating putting the actual pieces together. 
My husband also got me a lovely Singer serger for Christmas the year before last, heh, so I'm planning to use it for the seams on the laptop bag... but I need some serious practice in using it before I'll approach the laptop bag with my novice skills, so I'm going to make a huge pile of cloth napkins with rolled hems for around the house, haha.
What sorts of projects have you been working on lately??

I sew, too...and always over-ambitiously (I did learn to walk, but it was so long ago that I keep trying to do marathons when I haven't even been taking regular walks to get back into it, so ha! I get it!). I'm currently building my own pattern and sewing H a pair of lederhosn for our party this Saturday! Happily, H's mom has a cousin in Germany who finally located a pattern for me, so I'll be really interested to see how I should have done it. Haha, but there are NO patterns anywhere in the US or online, so I had to just dive in.
um. and sexxxay time.dur.
and peeing (in the shower? butt guards in public toilets? which way do you wipe?)

I am loving the hell out of baking these days, that's for sure. 
Chocolate cake with Nutella buttercream, both from scratch, for DH's birthday the weekend the before last!
Fashion, I'm less apt with.
It sounds like I could definitely ask around here for advice/tips, though, so hooray!
Also, cool!! I hope you like how the lederhosn turn out! They seem like they'd be a relatively straightforward modification off a pants pattern, but I'm sure there're some tricky bits I'm not thinking of.
Will you post pics when you're done?
